USA in decline?

I blame technology but I'm sure after it takes us to another universe it will be nicer. If no one else is there we could start all over.

I blame voodoo and Reaganism- Taxes too low, pandering to the rich, failure to invest in infrastructure and education/training. Myopic selfish Pubs and dupes/haters.

"The British journalist Ed Luce, whose book Time To Start Thinking is subtitled America In The Age Of Descent, argues that its failure to invest in infrastructure, research and education has been hugely damaging.

He told me: "The American dream no longer exists. If you compare income mobility, for example, you're twice as likely to move up an income group - up a class - in Canada or Germany as you would in the US.

"You're as likely to move up a class in Britain, and Britain's at the bottom of the league. It's got to stop these trends; otherwise it'll cease to be the America we admire; and I think it's to a large extent already ceasing, or has ceased, to be the America we admire.

BBC News - Is the US caught in the slow lane?

see sig pp1- and thanks for the depression...:eusa_whistle:

So you admit that things have gone to shit in this country but you reach back to Reagan to rest the blame.

How many years will pass before Obama gets any blame?

The world is in decline and there is no human leader of any ideology that can do a thing about it other than put on the brakes or grease the skids.

Jesus Christ can. We just have to humble ourselves, repent and let Him.

I did say "human leader", ask Jesus to make some more oil if he can spare the time away from doing jack shit.

I was thinking he could give me a touch of the old regenerated body.
But you should not test they Lord God. But is Jesus Lord God? According to the over 200 splinter groups of Christians in the world.

The decline began in the '70's. the world industries had rebuilt after WWII and many new competetors in the world market. America was undersold and even help these nations with importing massively from the nation of Japan in the later ''60's.

Reaganism is a disaster, dupe.

The Demise of the American Middle Class In Numbers.

Over the past 60 years the American dream has gradually disappeared. The process was slow, so most people didn’t notice. They just worked a few more hours, borrowed a little more and cut back on non-essentials. But looking at the numbers and comparing them over long time periods, it is obvious that things have changed drastically. Here are the details:

1. WORKERS PRODUCE MORE BUT THE GAINS GO TO BUSINESS.

Over the past 63 years worker productivity has grown by 2.0% per year.

But after 1980, workers received a smaller share every year. Labor’s share of income (1992 = 100%):

1950 = 101%
1960 = 105%
1970 = 105%
1980 = 105% – Reagan
1990 = 100%
2000 = 96%
2007 = 92%

A 13% drop since 1980

2. THE TOP 10% GET A LARGER SHARE.

Share of National Income going to Top 10%:

1950 = 35%
1960 = 34%
1970 = 34%
1980 = 34% – Reagan
1990 = 40%
2000 = 47%
2007 = 50%

An increase of 16% since Reagan.

3. WORKERS COMPENSATED FOR THE LOSS OF INCOME BY SPENDING THEIR SAVINGS.

The savings Rose up to Reagan and fell during and after.

1950 = 6.0%
1960 = 7.0%
1970 = 8.5%
1980 = 10.0% – Reagan
1982 = 11.2% – Peak
1990 = 7.0%
2000 = 2.0%
2006 = -1.1% (Negative = withdrawing from savings)

A 12.3% drop after Reagan.

4. WORKERS ALSO BORROWED TO MAKE UP FOR THE LOSS.

Household Debt as percentage of GDP:

1965 = 46%
1970 = 45%
1980 = 50% – Reagan
1990 = 61%
2000 = 69%
2007 = 95%

A 45% increase after 1980.

5. SO THE GAP BETWEEN THE RICHEST AND THE POOREST HAS GROWN.

Gap Between the Share of Capital Income earned by the top 1%
and the bottom 80%:

1980 = 10%
2003 = 56%

A 5.6 times increase.

6. AND THE AMERICAN DREAM IS GONE.

The Probably of Moving Up from the Bottom 40% to the Top 40%:

1945 = 12%
1958 = 6%
1990 = 3%
2000 = 2%

A 10% Decrease.

How Did This Happen? Over the past 50 years, rich corporations have learned all the, rich individuals and the middle class, more and more of the burden of 2000 – 18 trick of buying influence and favors from the political system. If you compare tax rates of corporations % 2005 – 15% 2009 – 18%
As you can see, personal tax rates haven’t changed more than 2% over the last 65 years, but corporate taxes fallen from 45% to 18% so they pay less than half what they used to. That means that more falls on the middle class:
Personal Income Tax as Percent of Income.and more of the burden of supporting country falls to the middle class.
As Warren Buffet said:
“There’s class warfare, all right, but it’s my class, the rich class, that’s making war, and we’re winning.”-

Percent Income taxes paid by corporations
1945 – 45% 1950 – 38% 1955 – 41% 1960 – 35% 1965 – 34%
1970 – 25% 1975 – 25% 1980 – 20% 1985 – 10% 1990 – 18%
1995 – 19%

Most recently-12%

Yes,
Same way that leds to the Decline of
Briton
Canada

The left cut the militaries and gave more free shit to the population. You can't take from the productive class without decreasing the size of the overall pie. It takes resources(cash) to hire people and create productivity.

The more I think of Ben Franklin, the more amazed I'm of just how right he was.
When people figure out that they can vote for free stuff then the republic will die. Keep it while you can.

More or less as undirect quotes...

Though I really do not thin the left cut the military much, what does it really matter if they do? During the cold war the US developed a military that could destroy the world. They played by a philosophy called MAD which stands for mutually assured destruction, and made stronger the most horrible weapons the world has ever seen, which the US invented and used in WW2.

The only thing the US cannot do is to make people happy they bomb them. However, in war with all but a couple of other countries the US could easily decimate the opponents if they were not trying to occupy the country.

The US has unmanned drones that can deliver any payload they have. These drones have the technology to defend themselves against the defenses of the opponents and even fly about unnoticed by many country's defenses.

The US navy can bring US forces anywhere in the world fast, and I am not sure there is another country anymore that comes close to their naval superiority.

About the only weakness the US seems to have is that their armed forces are volunteer so they don't have the numbers of a place like china, but since the US can fight using robotic unmanned drones they certainly do not have the problems of supporting a hue army with food, shelter, and arms like china does. If they have trouble getting people there is always the draft.

At what point do you have enough overkill? At what point does another billion dollar jet become pointless, and the money gets better spent on the people of your country and not kicking someone else's ass? If the dems do pull out some of the finances for overkill it is certainly something the country needs considering the state of the union. There are states going bankrupt. We have a presidential candidate wanting to get rid of police, firefighter, and teachers, but the military is something he wants to increase funding to. I hope they cut funding to the armed forces. A couple of less wars, and a few less overpriced high tech crap and we might be able to pay the fucking bills.

The world is in decline and there is no human leader of any ideology that can do a thing about it other than put on the brakes or grease the skids.

And all along I thought there were European country's that embraced socialism that were doing great?

The world has been in decline since the beginning of the industrial revolution. We do not have infinite resources but western civilization is still acting otherwise.

Prove it!

Yes. The US is in decline. I blame it on everybody wanting something for nothing. Living way above their means. Lack of respect for the flag at events. Lack of manners in our general population. People thinking they can do anything they wish and then say "I'm sorry". Politicians from all political parties that don't know how to tell the truth or do the honorable thing. Yes. America is going down the shitter more and more every day. This is just the short list. There's more to list but who really cares...

Repealing ACA would be the stupidest idea since everything else Pubs have done. Pure politicking for the dupes...

Romneycare for all. Already a great success...thanksTeddy.

Technology is our problem and our solution. No way out of this involves reverting to an earlier way of doing anything, at least not any way that involves the bulk of humanity still being alive.

I agree with Big Black Dog. There are too many Americans wanting something for free, living off the government and not respecting what this country once was. Americans used to find what work they could to feed and take care of their families. Now, too many are willing to take Unemployment insurance, food stamps and welfare until the best job comes along, if ever.

When we occupy Iran we can send them over.

Since the beginning of history, revolution was born in need and traveled on an empty stomach, if you want to be leader you either have to feed the hungry or defend yourself from the hungry.
