USA backing Islamic uprising?

Obama doesn't understand Islam just like the left doesn't understand the tea party.
The Tea party want a Constitutional government.
Muslims want sharia, not freedom.

"What's needed now are concrete steps that advance the rights of the Egyptian people, a meaningful dialogue between the government and its citizens and a path of political change that leads to a future of greater freedom and greater opportunity and justice for the Egyptian people," Obama added.

American Thinker: The Muslim Mainstream and the New Caliphate

A sobering reminder—based upon hard data—from an essay of mine published in April, 2007:American Thinker: The Muslim Mainstream and the New Caliphate

In a rigorously conducted face-to-face University of Maryland/ WorldPublicOpinion.org interview survey of 1000 Egyptian Muslims conducted between December 9, 2006 and February 15, 2007, 67% of those interviewed-more than 2/3, hardly a “fringe minority”-desired this outcome (i.e., “To unify all Islamic countries into a single Islamic state or Caliphate”).

The internal validity of these data about the present longing for a Caliphate is strongly suggested by a concordant result: 74% of this Muslim sample approved the proposition “To require a strict [emphasis added] application of Shari’a law in every Islamic country.”

If ever a President really, REALLY needed his own war.....it is Obama, and the time is now.

Another war for oil.

PERFECT photo op and PERFECT opportunity to show off the new toys and deliver a bunch of "Rah Rah" speeches.

We're going in boys, get ready.

The only good news is that it will be a boom for the economy, and morale.

Killing people always gets us back on track.

We will never do boots on the ground in an Islamic country again.

I agree. We were rolling in the right direction when we bombed Baghdad. Should have just kept that up for another 4-5 days and it would have been over.

A lot of oil rolls through Egypt. Whatever the ultimate resolution is, you can bank that it will benefit the US, and the conflict will not end until it does.

Our economy needs a large scale war.

Needs it very, VERY badly.

It seems the Islamic state are coalescing in favor of Islamic state and not the USA.
Obama will not commit to any war.
Obama wants the oil cut off not flowing.

But it is not the President who declares war.

I don't think this will happen tomorrow, but its coming.

We have to go to war, and soon.

Or we will continue to sink deeper.

There is a war coming.

It is our only hope.

This is Obama's wet dream. This could elevate him to the top of the Muslim/Terrorist hierarchy if he can deliver Egypt into fundamentalist hands. He's already ordered Mubarak to stand down.

Lay down with dogs get up with fleas, folks.

The USA often has very little choice but to deal with whatever thug has taken power in nations.

In this case, Mubarak was the man in charge of Egypt.

And since our ally Isreal deperately needed peace with Egypt, we cleaved to him, even though his regime is anything but democratic.

Well sooner or later the PEOPLE living under tyrants stand up to them.

And this is what is happening in Egypt, right now.

Now I do not think that the eaverage Abdul on the streets of Cairo is an Islamic fundamentalist.

However, the Islaic brotherhood, a nationalistic organization that has been in existence for over a century could very well have the organizational strength to become the central player in the next government of Egypt.

Is that organziation Islamic fundamentalist?

I don't think it has to be to be percerived as a threat to US/Israeli interests because it is an international Pan Islamic organization.

And about the last thing that the USA or West truly wants is a united front of Islamic nations.

And the West doesn't really care if that united Islam is socialist, or fundamentalist, or even if it is an ideal democratic Republic with human right protections that exceed our own.

The thought of a united Islam scares the bejesus out of the West.

Who is the enemy?

Doesn't really matter, does it?

Wars are rarely fought anymore for "good or evil."

Its all about the Benjamins.

I dont think China is willing to finance another war.

Ahh, but the Chinese are VERY GOOD businessmen!

If there is profit in it, they will invest.

And nothing produces profit like war.

They'll be down with it, I'm certain.

Who's side they'll be on is anyone's guess, but they won't let the opportunity pass them by.

Is we really that crazy ?

Egypt protests: America's secret backing for rebel leaders behind uprising
The American government secretly backed leading figures behind the Egyptian uprising who have been planning “regime change” for the past three years, The Daily Telegraph has learned.

The American Embassy in Cairo helped a young dissident attend a US-sponsored summit for activists in New York, while working to keep his identity secret from Egyptian state police.

On his return to Cairo in December 2008, the activist told US diplomats that an alliance of opposition groups had drawn up a plan to overthrow President Hosni Mubarak and install a democratic government in 2011.
The secret document in full

He has already been arrested by Egyptian security in connection with the demonstrations and his identity is being protected by The Daily Telegraph.
The crisis in Egypt follows the toppling of Tunisian president Zine al-Abedine Ben Ali, who fled the country after widespread protests forced him from office.

Egypt protests: America's secret backing for rebel leaders behind uprising - Telegraph

Stay tuned for wiki leaks or what ever.

Ummm shouldn't the title of a thread reflect the contents? There was absolutley NOTHING in the Telegraph article about the US supporting an Islamist uprising, just US support for possible pro-democracy, pro-reform uprisings.

Did I miss part of the article? Where does it talk about US support for any Islamist movement/group?

The US doesnt understand what pro democracy means in Islamic states.
It this case it means pro sharia fundmentalism.

We will deal with whoever is in power in Egypt, whether that's Mubarek, Elbaradei or the Muslim Brotherhood, for two very simple reasons. Suez being the main reason, and the perceived need to contain Gaza.

It's not clear yet what picture will emerge from this, but our policy is and always has been geared to protecting our interests and only our interests.

Egypt could turn into another Iran.

But Iran isn't exactly the Islamic fundamentalist nation many of you seem to think it is, either.

A LOT of the people of Iran are as sick to death of the Mullahs as the people of Egypt are tiring of Mubarak, ya know.

It doesn't much matter what tryannies stand for, they suck to live under and eventually the people revolt.

We just about saw that happen in Iran recently, too.

2/3rds of the people in Egypt are under 30 years old, they live on the internet because of the tight control of religion in these areas.

They dont want shria law they wnat democracy.

Why is the right so affraid of democracy?

Democracy will save this world not destroy it.
