With all of the posturing and debate over the elimination of "weapons of mass destruction"...
you would swear that these bioweapons just sprouted
out of the dessert thru spontaneous generation...

The reality is...that these third world and underdeveloped countries have all obtained technology and weaponry from Western or American governments or companies...From 1985 to 1987 Saddams bioweapons program got some assistance from US Companies and the US government...the Centers For Disease Control and the Manassas, Virginia based company, American Type Culture Collection(ATCC) sent strains of Anthrax bacteria, gas gangrene,(a bacteria that causes toxic gases to form in the body), and the bacteria that produces botulinum toxin, and possibly west nile virus were sent in varying combinations to Saddam Hussein's bioweapons sites...Saddam later admitted to the United Nations "...that it had made weapons out of all three."(Town Talk, Oct. 1, 2002, p.1) All of these facts were reported in a 1994 Senate Banking Committee report and a letter from the CDC to the Senate...Senator Robert Bird has entered these into the Congressional Record for the month of October...

The irony is that American boys and girls lives potentially could be at risk and endangered by a bioweapons program that was enhanced in part by the Centers For Disease Control and a US company...There have been calls for Iraq to give a full accounting of his weapons...shouldnt the US government give a full accounting of what was sold by the US to Iraq...too...?

Normally I would ask for a link, but this has been driven into the ground, unfortunately prior to the updated board on lost archives. Not playing this round. :tinfoil:

Since Woody has chosen just the link, I'll give a bit. LOL It's all Bush's fault:

The United States almost went to war against Iraq in February because of Saddam Hussein's weapons program. In his State of the Union address, President Clinton castigated Hussein for "developing nuclear, chemical, and biological weapons and the missiles to deliver them."

"You cannot defy the will of the world," the President proclaimed. "You have used weapons of mass destruction before. We are determined to deny you the capacity to use them again."

Most Americans listening to the President did not know that the United States supplied Iraq with much of the raw material for creating a chemical and biological warfare program. Nor did the media report that U.S. companies sold Iraq more than $1 billion worth of the components needed to build nuclear weapons and diverse types of missiles, including the infamous Scud.

When Iraq engaged in chemical and biological warfare in the 1980s, barely a peep of moral outrage could be heard from Washington, as it kept supplying Saddam with the materials he needed to build weapons.

From 1980 to 1988, Iraq and Iran waged a terrible war against each other, a war that might not have begun if President Jimmy Carter had not given the Iraqis a green light to attack Iran, in response to repeated provocations. Throughout much of the war, the United States provided military aid and intelligence information to both sides, hoping that each would inflict severe damage on the other.

With that laugh, in truthfulness, the anthrax thing has been beaten dead, as I said, I won't play. Meaning no searchie for me.

 Thanks...Kathianne...No...its not all Bush's fault...the arming of Iran and Iraq started in the early 80's and before...its an old game thats been going on for over 100 years...arms merchants, arms companies, and governments arming other governments and dictators
