US Senate insists Washington prevent nuclear Iran

North Korea is about as nutty as they come - and it has nukes. I contend that any country which has the technology to build nuclear weapons also has enough sense not to use them - because they know they'd only get to use them ONE time.

If they are full of shit, Iran can prove it easily by opening up its programs to IAEA inspectors. Failure to do that will be presumed to be an admission that Iran is trying to build nukes. It's really just that simple.
No it isn't. That's just another bullshit lie you're trying to get people to believe. I'm sorry, the emperor, doesn't have new clothes.

No, you know it's the truth. If Iran had complied with demands to open its facilities to inspection and nothing was found, no one would be talking about stopping them from acquiring nukes. Since they have refused to, much of the world is convinced they do have a nuclear weapons program. That's why we have all these sanctions in place and that's why there is massive military build up in the Gulf and that's why Iran's nuclear programs will probably be bombed by either the US or Israel within the next six months.

Who has the right to deny Iran nuclear weapons? Again, North Korea has them. Oh, I forgot, North Korea has no oil so who gives a shit.

Wingnuts like the Bush Doctrine, i.e. pre-emptive strikes. Forget about proof.

Bush Doctrine - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

How about applying the Obama doctrine of blowing up people in the ME and Central Asia because we suspect they might be militants? Blowing up Iranian facilities we suspect might be used to build nukes would only be an extension of the Obama doctrine.

Obama is whacking evildoers. Iran hasn't done anything...yet...

Obama is assassinating suspected evil doers and Iran is suspected of trying to build nukes, bombing their programs fits right into the Obama doctrine.

No the world is not convinced! The IAEA, last 3 NIE's and Israeli intelligence officials have all publically stated their program has not been weaponized.

Do you know something they don't?

ITA. Iran is our enemy and anyone who trusts them with nuclear power is crazy. Our number one priority is protecting this country, which means being proactive instead of reactive and we should look our for our allies, as well. Meanwhile, Obama telling people that he'll be more flexible after his re-election when it comes to our national security. We weren't supposed to hear that, but we did since he was too stupid to realize the mic was on.
So you think we should waste time and energy protecting the US from country's that don't threaten us?

Shhh.

Don't mention Iran can't do shit all to the US, everyone is fed a steady diet of how Iran threatens Americans.

No one every mentions, the only Americans in danger are the ones threatening Iran.

Pretty much everyone believes they have not yet built a bomb or even mastered the technologies required but pretty much everyone also believes they are trying to develop the technologies and acquire enough highly enriched uranium so that when they do decide to build the bomb it can be done quickly. This is why all the effort is being focused on preventing them from stockpiling uranium enriched above 5%, which is what is needed for their Russian built reactor, and why there is so much concern over their efforts to clean their Parchin research facility before allowing UN inspectors to see it.

We've been at war for the last 10 years. I don't know what we're gonna do if we can't find a way to start another one, that will put the defense budget in jeapordy.

I think it's worth noting, Israel won't let UN inspectors see their facilities either.

The UN has not demanded to inspect the Dimona reactor - it already inspects the Soreq reactor - because Israel is believed to have had nuclear weapons since the 1960's. The inspections demanded of Iran are for the purpose of preventing Iran from acquiring nuclear weapons.

Israel has never formally acknowledged it has a nuclear arsenal although the world takes it for granted, an assumption encouraged by the Jewish state's consistent refusal to sign nuclear non-proliferation treaties. The logic seems to be that as long as it doesn't admit to having nuclear weapons, Israel can insist that nobody else in the Middle East should have them.

“The Samson option” (“We Go Down, Everyone Goes”) is not an abstract concept in Israeli politics. It has been addressed by military strategists in both Israel and the US.

Israel's "Samson Option" is exactly the same as the US' nuclear deterrence policy and it forms the theoretical basis for your apparent belief that Iran can be trusted to have nukes because using them would get Iran destroyed. In Cold War terms it is mutually assured destruction, MAD.

Apparently the Israeli government is not the only government that doesn't trust Obama to take effective action to prevent Iran from acquiring nukes.
They need to prove Iran's nuclear program has been weaponized before discussing about what we should do.

No, they don't. Iran needs to open up all their facilities to prove they are not trying to build nukes. And Obama needs to start taking effective action to force Iran to either open up their programs or blow up their programs or the US will lose all control over events.

I can understand the concern that we have when it comes to other countries developing nuclear capabilities. The problem is that this technology is no longer rocket science. One country after another is going to have the ability to develop nuclear programs in the near future, if for nothing else, then so that they may provide themselves with clean energy. We are not going to be able to stop this from happening unless we plan on taking over the world. Last time I checked, that is not in our Constitution.
