Russia sought to approve a Security Council press release which does not mention the rockets fired at Israel by Hamas and Israel's right to self defense. The US prevented the message from being released.

While the UN Gen Ass has made itself irrelevant regarding the conflict, Sec Council pronouncements do have weight and often serious consequences. I don't understand Russia's interest considering their actions in Chechnya and Georgia.
