US Military: Peak Oil 2012

Hahaha, "not an energy shortage but excessive government interference."

C'mon guys, even the most extreme reactionaries here can't deny that, you know, something that is FINITE, eventually ENDS, right? .

C'mon guys, even the most extreme fucktards here can't deny that, you know, the US of A enjoy deploying its armed forces somewhere on the fucking universe thereby disrupting oil supplies.

It worked for the Bush energy policy of getting the price of oil raised.

HUH?

Economics 101 as demand rises and supply tightens profits soar.

True. The supply tightens as the god damned federal government threatens the oil producers : Iraq, Iran and Venezuela!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yes mostly due to corporate influence in our govt.

An enemy is also required to support the military industrial complex.

corporate influence.........well true ....sort of.......AIPAC and The State of Israel may be considered corporate influence.

.

Explain them? This statement counterdicts your previous claim that the hunt for oil has stopped.

There are alternatives, yes, but those alternatives are only practical in 1st-world countries.

I didn't say all nations were trying to stop this, you assumed a universal statement when there are plainly nations that do do this. China, Russia, Cuba and other communist states have not stopped doing exploration in international waters or their own borders and have had great success with finding new resources. Why? Because they know peak oil is a hoax, but there IS power in being the controller of oil that IS available.

Generally after a series of wars, the survivors develop alternatives, yes.

Which war was over wood resources? Whale Oil? Coal?

If you read the report, the reason why the military is concerned is precisely because it will destabilize the world economy, which is already fragile. The report states that in such circumstances, dictatorships tend to rise to power, making Iran and North Korea the norm.

That is because ALL modern society is based on a triad of innovations: "Fossil Fuels", Electricity, Plastics. These three things are the basis for all of what we have today. Fossil fuels power all transportation. You cannot move without it in this world in any practical measurable sense. Electricity, mostly made by Fossil Fuels, Nuclear power and Hydro are critical too. Without them, none of society could be sustained beyond 3rd world status. And Plastics. Made mostly from petroleum. What items in your house have no plastics in them? Almost nothing anymore.

That is why it is geo-politically insane to not see controlling fossil fuel resources as an absolute critical stance to have. You cannot function without a stable and abundant supply of oil. Every barrel you give over to the control of someone else, is a risk you are taking. For a fictionalized theory on this, watch "Three Days of the Condor". Good film for a 70s action flick with Robert Redford, but it makes a few very salient points that prove both Cliff Robertson and Redford very right. Although I find Redford's solution to the whole movie very Pollyanna-ish as is wont to be with the hippie idealist generation.

And as a flat out trueism, you cannot conserve your way out of any energy crunch. Needs are needs.

Of course raising the price of oil was not the only objective. Israel wanted us to do some killin for them too.

because Israel wanted to kill some people???

Yep we have been near peak oil for several years. We would likely be there now if not for the recession.
Learn to live with less.

'peak' oil is simply another scare the sheeple myth on a par with global warming. The oil is there IF we are allowed to drill.
