The idea that manufacturing in this country is dead is sheer nonsense. The United States is the second largest producer of manufactured goods in the world. More importantly, it is the most productive country on earth.

China produces more than we do, but most of it is low productivity. Those low-productivity jobs are never coming back here, even with tariffs, at least in size. They will either move to other low cost jurisdictions or will be automated.

Perhaps if those other countries increased what they pay to their labor so their people could afford to purchase what was manufactured in their own factories their economies would improve and they'd have more factories.

It has been for a long time...

Post WW2 until the early seventies nobody in the world could compete with good ol imperialist production and pride=quality control. Even the Germans who are a proud lot themselves and made some great stuff. Not a chance against ol US of a.
Enter the seventies.
The tumors begin to grow.
455 cubic inch engines producing 220 HP @ 8 MPG
Fucking garbage autos and bikes( still have the worlds best truck and construction machinery---thank God)
No more lead paint due to idiot parenting.
Electronics and appliances that really, really sucked.
Zero upgrade to a cave man rail system.

Death.Addiction capital of the planet( a gift from England) More warring and stealing natural resources for the team sponsors. Ya know. Those 2 parties you never got invited to.

The Asians saw, copied and conquered. Japan was first, others came slower and are still moving forward this moment.
The empire is dead. No return.
UNLESS

That's one hell of a "magic wand" that magnificent orange SOB has.

I bet Obama wishes he had one. :laughing0301:

The big problem with US blue collar work is the lack of vocational training. It costs 48 hours and @ $100 to become a CNA or even less to become a phlebotomist and most medical facilities that hire these entries either will help the newb get higher certification or will pay tuition. But the days of a strong back and a weak mind being employable are gone.
