There is no end in sight as dozens of FAA inspectors continue to work without pay after having been asked to stay on the job and to charge government travel expenses to their personal credit cards to keep airports operating safely.

already cost $360 million, and the U.S. government could lose roughly $1 billion in tax revenues on airline ticket sales. (so much for the "Party of Fiscal Responsibility")

The U.S. House of Representatives and Senate have left town for the summer

Say, God forbid, the worst happens and a plane crashes, and consider this GOP, there might even be "rich" people on that plane, who do you think the public will blame?

Something to consider. Another "unintended Republican consequence"?

Think about it.

Was watching Brett Baere last night and according to Steve Hayes and the panel The bill was passed by the House and the Senate a while ago. Its just been sitting in the Senate . There is some hang up on a labor issue. Another Union dealy. Big Surprise.

Yes. Just who gets the blame for this one??

But what was in the bill to keep the Senate from voting on it?

As usual, the Republicans try to control all legislation from a minority position. If they don't get what they want, they refuse to negotiate no matter the cost. I really do hope that voters bitch slap them come next year.

This is one article on it. I'm sure there are others.

House Dems say long-term FAA extension in jeopardy over funding, union language - The Hill's Floor Action

House Democrats on Monday warned that passage of a long-term Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) is in serious jeopardy this year because Republicans are insisting on a bill that cuts billions in FAA funding and includes language making it harder to form air and rail unions.

Oh I see the right wants to bare bones it and throw rocks at unions.

Does the FAA generate revenue? Hell no.

No bureaucracy does.

Fuck 'em.

They can stay on permanent furlough for all I give a shit. They're as "useful" as the post office and the IRS.

Sure honey.... they were created to take over what was previously the Civil Aeronautics Authority and the Civil Aeronautics Board. They basically regulate U.S. Commercial air travel.

The GOP passed a bill that would temporarily fund the FAA back in April, Reid never even put it up for a vote. Tell me again how this is the GOP's fault.

The House cannot make a bill that prevents the Senate from voting. That can only happen if someone in the senate stops the vote.

By the way, I thought you opposed corporate welfare, why are you willing to subsidize airlines just because they fly in Nevada?

It didn't stop Obama from flying to his 57th birthday party fund raiser with all those fat cats

Both sides need to come together and get this done. 70,000 some construction workers out of work? And the two parties, BOTH, are focused on JOBS? How about protecting the ones that already exist even if they have a union? Anti worker showing its ugly head. Pure and simple distaste of people who would like a decent wage.
