United States is Heading in Wrong Direction

The first step to solving many of the problems that United States and the people of the world faces today, is to recognize and agree to the problems. The second step is to do something to correct the problem and this is often when people will disagree. Many of the problems are constantly evolving over time into larger problems that are more complex. As the problems change and evolve so to must answers.

The American Interstate Highway System is a good example of how problems and answers evolve over time. During the 50s under President Eisenhower the main frame to the United States Interstate was created. Fifty plus years later it is costing more to maintain the roads and bridges than it did to build them. Many of the urban Interstate projects by the time of completion could not serve maximum capacity well and are in a state of gridlock today. As a society evolves and grows so do the problems and answers.

If someone could go back in time from today, so they could tell President Eisenhower the size, cost and problems of the United States Interstate System today. They might have never started to design or build the Interstate system then saying the nation cannot afford it. The point is most people today will not be able recognize the answers to our problems of tomorrow. For someone today to outline the answers to the problems of twenty to fifty years from now they would be consider nuts.

The problem as with so many things in life is time. To set-up and organize into operation takes time. Often by the time the operation is working a whole new set of problem arise changing the problems. Only by understanding the big picture of tomorrow can you start to work on the problems in the little pictures of today. As are the problems so too are answers, they are interwoven and connected to society.

And the Germans have the DNP party occupying 10% of the German Congress. Why is that bad? DNP is basically Nazis saying they aren't Nazis.

Try that for hypocrisy.

One does not have to be a rocket scientist to see that the United States is heading in the wrong direction on multi-level platforms that are inter-connected. From the War in Iraq to our high level consumption of the world crude oil to the spiraling Twin Deficits. The United States is trying to secure the international boarders of Iraq when they cannot secure their boarders at home. The hypocrisy in what the United States government says and what they do for short-term gains is costing us a lot in the long run with compounding interest and problems.

Today in America the intellectuals are sidelined as extremists while the Ivy League special interest lobbies write the government policies to serve their interest. The United States government regulatory commissions today are similar to the foxes guarding the chicken coops. The policies of the United States Federal government are out of control at home and abroad. As a tyrant the United States government will step on anyone or nation that get in the way of its self-interests.

The answers to the problems that face the United States will be painful to many Americans. Many promises that have been made by the government and corporations will not be able to be kept disrupting the lives of many Americans. If major corrections in American policies are not made before it hits the fan it will lead to chaos on the international streets going to America. Only by addressing the problems of the big picture can we find the answers over the long run. It is time for the American people to wake-up and take control of the Federal Government putting it back into its place. This is true on the state, local and international level where the United States Federal government has over step its bounds. As long as American remain complacent with our current path the problems will only get worst for our children’s future. The United States government must regain its balance to its purpose and policies. The mismanagement by those in power is as good as treason to our country.
I agree 100%

Yawn. Are you going to post solutions to any of the myriad problems you bring up? Or is this another hit-and-run posting?
We can start with a very powerful set of petitions, phone calls to our legislators, protest marches, form civic groups and meet with Senators and Congressmen, boycott the industries who offend the worst with their lobbys, make a speech or a group of speechs to Congress and the Senate. There is a lot we can do.

We can elect a person who is not a professional politician (grassroots movement).

You know, you really bug me. I mean if you actually sat around and discussed things rather than hitting and running with your posts i wouldnt mind. but the hit and run tactic gets really annoying.

Anyway that with that aside, if we are going in the wrong direction which way is the right one? How about instead of just critisizing you offer a better solution? I mean if you dont have a better solution then whats wrong with the path we are on now? Atleast now we are dealing with some of the problems facing the nation. Would you prefer we sat around and did nothing?

Its easy to critisize and mock. (the mocking is more for other than you) Real leadership comes with trying to do something to make the world better. It doesn't take a real man to point out problems. it takes a real man to fix those problems.

One thing i deffinately agree with you on. we need to secure our boarder. I suggest we annex Mexico. It would end the flood of illegal immigration from Mexico and make our Southern boarder alot smaller. Plus it would open alot of economic opportunity to those with some vision. Regardless though we need to do something about the southern boarder.
The right direction would be to rebuild Iraq according to what the Iraqi people want. Help but not in a heavy handed way. We want to leave that region stabalized, and part of the problem is our demand to control the oil.

The right direction means to eliminate the power of the lobby firms, set term limits on all gov jobs and become fiscally responsible with our tax money.

The right direction is to invest in education for all citizens.

Right. Types of governments should be evaluated. Socialist/tyrannical governments focus all power in the hands of government. this screws up the market forces cause economic stagnation and shortages of all kind, lack of opportunity, shrinking economies, death, and destruction. these types of governments need to be eliminated from the face of the earth.

I think our democracy needs a little (not a lot) of socialism...insofar as we the people need to work together for each other. We need personal responsibility mixed with civil responsibility.

Instead of subsidizing weapons and surveillance industries we should subsidize housing, health care, higher education and so on.

We do subsidize all of those (houses, health care and higher education), and lemme tell you, with the exception of the very last one, it's not working.

How are those subsidized and yet cost the consumer so much? It is not subsidized. Those things have some money tossed in that direction, but to qualify one cannot earn over a certain amount...like more than 15,000 a year.

No, the money goes to Boeing and Lockheed-Martin and not to the people.

right.

throw in all the banks and investment firms we're going to bail out on the housing crisis and yeppers...the doeton agrees...we're subsidizing housing...and it sure ain't workin.

I've got to say that this is a very interesting thread, this is what governments are paid to do. Can we cure all these problems? Everything seems interrelated, change one thing and it has a knock on impact accross the board...

The question, as I see it, is it even possible that the leadership of this nation didn't know what would happen to this nation?

I find it incredible to believe that people really thought the USA could: offshore industrial jobs; give tax breaks to billionaires; allow corporations to shelter their taxes offshore, get into costly wars which necessitate that we borrow trillions; and NOT KNOW THAT WAS THE PATH TO NATIONAL INSOLVENCY.

It just stretches credibility to the breaking point to imagine that the people in charge are THAT FUCKING STUPID.

The only other explanation is that they received gratuities for their cooperation...
