NYT: United stand on health bill may hurt GOP - The New York Times- msnbc.com

WASHINGTON - Passage of the health care legislation challenges the heart of the Republicans’ strategy this year: To present a unified opposition to big Democratic ideas, in this case expressed in a stream of bristling anger and occasional mischaracterizations of what the bill would do.

From a legislative perspective, the Republican strategy did not work, despite months of predictions from Republicans that the bill would fail and that that would cripple President Obama’s presidency.

Mr. Obama will sign the bill Tuesday, although with the support of only Democrats. An additional package of amendments to remove some of the more politically problematic provisions is likely to become law within weeks.

Ben Nelson has done another turn around. He is going to fight to preserve his little bribe.

The compromises were all window dressing. They will die quietly. And that executive order, that will be forgotten too.

I don't belive the GOP is forgiven yet. And no matter how mad the voters are, I don't see that even removing 60 reps from office will do any good. The best the GOP could do in the senate right now is a one vote plurality. And that won't repeal 0bamacare

This seems to be the latest Liberal Media & DNC Talking Point but as usual they're both wrong. The GOP did exactly what Millions & Millions of Citizens wanted them to do which was fight this Democrat Health Care debacle with all their might. They did just that. I know they have gained more respect from me anyway. For once and finally,they may have kicked their Socialists/Progressives to the curb. They stood up for what was right but lost. I'm actually ok with that. The Democrats pulled every dirty slimy trick imaginable to pass their disaster and i think many wont forget that. The GOP actually stood up for Freedom & Liberty. That's a pleasant change for them in my opinion. So I say Kudos to you GOP and keep up the good fight!

The GOP should just take Margaret Thatcher's wise advice..."Don't go all wobbly on me now." The GOP stood up for real Freedom & Liberty but lost. There's nothing wrong with that in my opinion. No need to panic and become wobbly. Just take the loss but keep your chin up and keep on fighting the good fight. The GOP has to be careful not to panic and fall back on their Socialists/Progressives in the party. That has become a real tendency for the GOP in recent years. They panic after losses and then fall back on their Progressives for answers. They just need to continue fighting and i think they will continue to gain respect from many. This Democrat Bill is wrong for America on so many levels. The GOP was right to fight it with all their might. The GOP may actually be back on track again. No need to change course. Just don't panic and go all wobbly.
