Unions, Strikes, and My Entry Into Local Politics

so??? people had the same choice in the USSR . Do you understand??

Electricity is NOT a Right. No utility is. Never has been and hopefully never will be. We are required to OFFER service to people and businesses in the area we cover. We are not required to provide it if they refuse to meet our requirements.

Yeah, nothing like a monopolistic Free Market utility.

what???????????????????
Exactly, schmuck.
Utilities can, and DO, charge whatever they want as they are at the beck and call of their investors, NOT their customers.
In NY, we are being gouged by PSEG and NationalGrid after they immediately starting charged over triple what they stated they would charge, not to mention American Water which Tripled customers bills the moment they bought out the local Civil Water Departments.

that why libertarians favor capitalism. Do you understand?

Libertarians favor anarchy.
For instance, if a Libertarian wants a road in front of his house, he'll build it, ONLY in front of his house, when he wants.
If a Libertarian wants to receive mail, he'll pay for each delivery.
If a Libertarian wants to put out the fire that's engulfing his house, he'll call up the Privately owned Fire Department, and order the "1 House Fire to be Extinguished" option.

Libertarians favor anarchy.

dear conservatives and libertarians want limited govt. Ron Paul wants liberal ban on abortion
The two issues are unrelated.
I am personally against Abortion.
I am personally against public funded Abortion.
I am personally against Abortion except for rape, incest or danger to the mother.

The problem...
The idiotic Liberals who want Abortion even for babies who are 20 years old.
The idiotic Conservatives who scream, "Give me Liberty! Except for Abortion and Same Sex Marriage."
Liberals reject religion as a basis for morality.
Conservatives want Liberty with a smattering of Religion.

Electricity is NOT a Right..

no body said it was dummy,, just that you are a union thug operating outside of the free market thanks to your lib soviet crony connections to govt!!

Anyone claiming that utilities have anything to do with a free market needs his head examined.
Conservatives love Privately Owned Utilities; after all, they're more efficient.
PSEG has pretty much fired their full time employees.
Can't spoil those workers with benefits now, can we?

A corporate purchasing department is sent a requisition for Widgets. The Req includes a detailed specification and a few "nice to have" features. The Buyer goes out to all of the known sources of Widgets with the specifications, nice-to-haves, and requests firm price bids. He selects the best bid, all things considered.

A corporate HR department is sent a requisition for a computer programmer. The HR department solicits resumes based on the job spec. The responsive, qualified candidates are interviewed. Each is asked for his target salary. They hire the one whose value and "price" add up to the best fit for the position.

Is this "evil"? Is the company being unfair by getting the best value for its money?

a liberal simple lacks the IQ to understand that an company is managed for the benefit of consumers not employees.

oh good so we'll have an economy where utilities are forced to be inefficient!! See why we say liberalism is based in pure ignorance?
I think you should study modern utilities before making such a statement.
Private utilities only modernize in response to political threats.
You also, as usual, didn't back up your post with any real-life examples.
