Went to a Baptism at an evangelical Christian church recently and was astounded by what I saw. I was raised Catholic and am used to seeing crucifixes everywhere, but realize most Protestant churches usually just go in for crosses without the body of Jesus on them. To my amazement there were NO crosses anywhere on the walls of this church, inside or out! The only crosses to be found were on top of the poles bearing the U.S. and state flags! Were they trying to send a message? Is the church to be intimately tied up with the state? Is this common in Protestant churches or was this one just really weird?
