Union Gangsters: Richard Trumka

Posted by Matthew Vadum
Sep 30th, 2011

Richard Trumka is a thug’s thug, and a crafty one at that.

The AFL-CIO boss believes the end justifies the means. Breaking the law is acceptable if it advances the cause. Unions should “forget about the law; this is about more than that,” he said at the “Future of Unions” roundtable in Detroit on April 7.

---
But unlike most high-profile leftists, Trumka doesn’t even make an effort to conceal his radicalism. “Being called a socialist is a step up for me,” he told Bloomberg News in June. In 1994, Trumka proudly accepted the Eugene Debs Award named after the five-time presidential candidate and labor organizer who founded the Socialist Party of America.

As an AFL-CIO executive, Trumka helped to create “Union Summer,” a program for training young people as organizers and political activists. Participants were made to recite a pledge called “Working Class Commitment” that included the Marxist idea “that we [union workers] produce the world’s wealth … [and] will end all oppression.”

---
His 2011 compensation package at AFL-CIO totaled $293,750, according to LM-2 disclosure forms on file with the U.S. Department of Labor. Trumka apparently lives in a four-bathroom house assessed at $747,650 in Rockville, MD, a suburb of Washington, D.C.

---
Trumka bears more than a passing resemblance to legendary gangster Al Capone, who ruled Chicagoland with an iron fist during the Prohibition Era.

Like Capone, Trumka stays close to his politicians. Trumka brags about his coziness with the Obama administration. “I’m at the White House a couple times a week – two, three times a week,” he said. “I have conversations every day with someone in the White House or in the administration. Every day.” Soon after being inaugurated, President Obama named Trumka to his Economic Recovery Advisory Board, which is akin to inviting an arsonist to advise on fire safety.

Union Gangsters: Andy Stern

by Matthew Vadum
Oct 21st, 2011

---
Andy Stern is one of the most outspoken, cocksure neo-communists of the American labor movement.

“We like to say: We use the power of persuasion first,” Stern said, channeling Rules for Radicals author Saul Alinsky. “If it doesn’t work, we try the persuasion of power.”

Stern quotes Karl Marx in television appearances. In 2007 the wannabe Bolshevik told Bill Moyers that his Service Employees International Union (SEIU) was expanding to Australia, Switzerland, England, South America, and Africa.

We’ve been working with unions around the world. And what we’re working towards is building a global organization. Because “workers of the world unite,” it’s not just a slogan anymore. It’s the way we’re going to have to do our work.

Stern loves government slush funds that advantage the Left. He enthusiastically supports President Obama’s so-called jobs bill that would provide $15 billion for ACORN and its 20-odd new front groups, other radical left-wing groups, and state and local governments.

He also seems blissfully, willfully ignorant of the many misguided government policies and programs that helped to cause the current financial crisis. To him everything is the fault of investors.

---

The racketeers of SEIU use an intimidation manual to guide their vicious attacks against targeted companies. As labor watchdog F. Vincent Vernuccio reported,

The new union tactic is to use pressure on corporate boardrooms as a means of organizing entire companies nationwide rather than recruiting workers on a site-by-site basis; in short, to organize employers rather than employees. To create this pressure, unions attempt to push businesses to the edge of bankruptcy, with little regard for the welfare of employer and employee. They attempt to strong-arm businesses into agreeing to take away the secret ballot for employees in union-organizing elections via card check. They also try to force employers to restrict their own speech on union issues so that workers will not get both sides of the story on unionization. Among the SEIU’s demands is that employers agree to bargain only with it, to the exclusion of all other unions, regardless of what workers want.

Long before Stern took over the union, he helped SEIU members sabotage corporations that refused to play ball. He worked with economic terrorist Stephen Lerner on the union’s “Justice for Janitors” campaign. With the approval of union leadership, Stern and his comrades employed New Left tactics from the 1960s, blocking access to city streets, invading private meetings, advancing shareholder resolutions, and urging workers to swamp authorities with health and safety code complaints against their own employers.

Stern’s SEIU also led the way in bloodying Tea Party supporters at the anti-Obamacare town hall meetings of 2009. After President Obama, a master of Chicago thug politics, implored his supporters to “punch back twice as hard” against his enemies, SEIU obliged. In a widely reported incident, outside a town hall meeting union goons roughed up Kenneth Gladney, a diminutive black man selling Gadsden (“Don’t Tread on Me”) flags. One of his attackers called Gladney a “n**ger.”

Pro-union (Communist) Rally, Atlanta - YouTube

:eusa_shifty:

That was actually the first rally of the Democratic Socialists of America that I've seen...

But have read about the US Congress branch of the DSA in Aaron Klein's "Red Army."

From same:

1. While the United States is one of the few democracies without an official socialist party, in reality socialist occupy some of the highest positions in the “Marxist-socialist” bloc in Congress. In fact, the Congressional Progressive Caucus was founded as a sister to the Democratic Socialists of America, the DSA.

a. Before the socialist network infiltrated the Democratic Party, its ideology permeated academic institutions for decades.

b. In the 60’s, radicals attempted to overthrow the US capitalist system by actual revolution: the Students for a Democratic Society (SDS) or its spinoff, the Weathermen terrorist group. DSA was established to transform capitalism by democratic means.

2. Based on ideas similar to those of the Fabians, it was decided to drop the word ‘socialism’ and continued as the ‘Congressional Progressive Caucus.’ Stealth was determined to be more effective….boring from within.

a. Bill Ayers, Mike Klonsky, and Bernardine Dohrn attacked capitalism from academia.
b. Wade Rathke founded ACORN.
c. Heather and Paul Booth, and Steve Max, founded the Midwest Academy to attack capitalism using Saul Alinsky-style community organizing.

3.Michael Harrington, founder of the DSA, knew that infiltration of the Democratic Party was primary, and it already contained all of the progressive elements.
The Eduard Bernstein Internet Archive
Socialism time line. The DSA remains the principle branch of the Socialist International, whose primary goal is global governance under worldwide socialism.

a. The SI boasts it is successor to the First International of Karl Marx, 1864. “Ever since its inception in 1951, the Socialist International has made cosmetic efforts to distance itself from communist socialists.”
http://www.thenewamerican.com/world...-35/2947-the-grasp-of-socialist-international

4. Creation of the Progressive Caucus is credited to Bernie Sanders. The groups in the radical network include a) the Congressional Progressive Caucus, b) the Congressional Black Caucus, c) the Populist Caucus, and the d) Progressive Democrats of America.
a. Allied with the above is ACORN, SEIU, and the Institute for Policy Studies
b. And, indirectly, the Center for American Progress and the Apollo Alliance.

Union Gangsters: Saul Alinsky

by Daniel Flynn
Dec 16th, 2011

For conservatives accustomed to left-wing bogeymen falling neatly into either the “Marxist” or “sixties radical” box, Saul Alinsky can make for a bewildering figure.

Alinsky significantly never joined the Communist Party during the Red Decade. He later reflected, “I didn’t join because I had a sense of humor.” As a Roosevelt-era apparatchik of the Congress of Industrial Organizations (CIO), Alinsky defended union reliance on Communists to organize workers but also oversaw a touring beat-down crew targeting troublemaking Communists at the behest of the CIO. This reappearing hypocrisy, which Alinsky’s critics decried as a vice, Alinksy himself celebratd as a virtue. Flexibility to changing tactics, rather than rigid adherence to principle, was the Alinskyite hallmark of successful activism.

I always tell people that if they want to see what unions in control looks like they should watch the movie "Kill The Irishman".

My experience has been much different that the previoud two posters. I've bee a member of the cement masons union for most of my life. I'm not even 50 and I don't have to work anymore if I don't feel like it. Financially, I'm set.

I'm not ideologically opposed to unions, like anything else they can get out of hand. Some more than others. In the 70s the teamsters was basically a criminal organisation.
