Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama, and Florida actually showed some job gains. That might include BP clean-up employment. Like census work, that is temporary. Fishing is fairly temporary itself, of course, and in the past has happened every year.

On-shore industries may get a boost, now that Brazil may be getting into the deep-sea oil business. All kinds of Great, Socialist, Central Government Planned operations are likely in the public works, worldwide.

So far, the oil rigs being deployed could be better described as swath-making. Weapons Of Mass Destruction. Therefore, GOP wants more of them delployed near the U. S. coast, to help kill it off.

That is the previously announced, John McCain and Sarah Palin agenda. Obama changed from pro, to no, on a dime. The other two have not.

So far, U. S. rig-makers win, and Brazil likely gets a price reduction, supply likely balancing a lesser demand than might otherwise have been expected. Socialist Central Planning is like that. For the alternative, see McCain-Palin prposing to, "Drill, Baby, Drill! Spill, Baby, Spill! Gush In The Name of Rush, Gush!"

I would presumes they were all counted when they were first laid off, losing Insurance Money should have nothing to do with the Unemployment numbers.

Obviously its good news that unemployment is down.

Now if aggregate incomes are also rising (so it depends on what KIND of work people are being hired for, does it not?) then at least PART of the problem leading to this meltdown is getting better.

The Federal Government makes up their Labor Force Numbers and Work Force Numbers. Supposedly it is based upon a household survey that they conduct on a regular basis. I have spoken to vast numbers of audiences over the years and have always asked if there was anybody in the audience who had ever been surveyed in the Federal Survey. I started asking a third of a century ago, and to date have never found one individual who has ever been surveyed. As far as I am concerned, the survey if make believe, just like the Federal numbers.
