This Unemployment Extension we have heard so much about is not even adding any more weeks. Anyone who has used all 99 Weeks is still shit out of luck. All they have done is extend the time you can collect those 99 weeks through this November.

Unemployment Extension

The legislation does not include the COBRA subsidy or a Tier 5 unemployment extension that would provide additional weeks of unemployment for the 99ers - the unemployed workers who have exhausted all unemployment benefits.

Meaning anyone who has extended all 99 weeks is SHIT out of luck, and The people still able to collect are losing their Cobra Insurance.

They been screaming for weeks now how Thousands of Americans are running out of unemployment each week, and we have to pass this bill. With out paying for it, like we demanded we do last time...........Yet because they added no more new weeks. Thousands of People will still fall off the rolls every week as they hit 99 weeks.

So much for the Compassionate Dems eh.

If the Obamanoids really wanted to help the long term unemployed, they'd focus on policies that resulted in real job creation. Of course, that would be abandoning their Big Government ideology, which will never happen.

Oh, and if they really cared about extending unemployment, they would have covered longer terms out of the $400B+ of unspent stimulus funds.

I agree on both counts.

I just found it funny that in all the Debate about this, we were never told they were not adding more actual weeks to the 99, and were only extending the time you could collect on the original 99. In Fact many News out lets were incorrectly reporting that this bill would add 26 more weeks.

We also heard nothing from the Dems about how they were not going to Extend Cobra coverage for those still collecting on the 99. Meaning Anyone on the Emergency Benefits is now un insured if they were not already.

Funny what they choose to tell you and what they try and slip by.

Then why does the GOP oppose it?

They don't oppose it - they want it paid for instead of adding more to the deficit.

With $400B of unspent Stimulus Funds, the Dems could have easily handled it without exploiting the unemployed.

It means that the temporary increase of unemployment benefits to 99 week will be extended.

Really? But the assholes don't think we need to have to pay for their tax breaks???

How many middle class people are really worried about their taxes? Or are they more worried about keeping their jobs and not having to take more pay cuts?

Being worried about keeping one's job and worried about increased taxes and government debt are not mutually exclusive.

In fact, they are strongly correlated.

I was laid off two years ago and haven't been able to find work. No, taxes are not my biggest problem and I don't know anyone who is really upset over taxes.

To continue the bush tax breaks which helped to put us in this mess, would be stupid. It would put the country deeper in debt for no good reason at all.

Well, there you go again!

this is what I love about CON$, you were corrected on another thread and here you are again with the same deliberately GOP hate media propaganda.

First of all, only $362B remains UNPAID as of 7/9/10, not "unspent."

And additionally the UNPAID money is allotted for tax benefits for the rest of 2010 or contracts for projects that have not been completed and is not available to be SPENT elsewhere, as you and all your dishonest fellow travelers well know.

oh I get it, sarcasm!

*passes out*

Formerly employed workers, now unemployed, with absolutely no money coming in to keep a roof over their heads or bread on the table.

Yeah, that's the ticket to a healthier economy.

More people out of work means that the rest of us will worker harder for less and be THANKFUL to da massa for our jobs.

Nice feudal society we're creating here.

How very libertarian of us.

Then why does the GOP oppose it?

The GOP opposed it because they want to use unspent stimulus money to fund it.Shame on them they want it paid for.:cuckoo:
There is no "unspent" stimulus money. The money is contracted and spent, it is not PAID OUT until the contracted projects are completed. You know that!

The GOP hope to cripple the stimulus because they see their only path to power is for The American people, whom the GOP hates, to suffer economically for as long as possible by diverting money away from the stimulus. They prove their hypocrisy when at the same time they want to extend the Bush tax giveaway without paying for it.
