Under fire, Herman Cain modifies '9-9-9' plan

I understand Kingfish Cain is the Republican front-runner and I am absolutely baffled by that report. The only reason for it I can think of is the influence of Koch Brothers money being capable of rigging the polls.

But if George W. Bush could be elected for a second term nothing should surprise me.

Under fire, Herman Cain modifies '9-9-9' plan - latimes.com
Herman Cain's "9-9-9" tax plan lost some its trademark simplicity today when the Republican presidential hopeful carved out a sales tax exemption for the poor.

"We"re not going to throw the people at the poverty level under the bus," Cain told an audience at the Western Republican Leadership Conference. "No, we're not going to do that. But we've already made provisions for that. But I just hadn't told the public and my opponents about it yet. So we're going to take care of those who are less economically advantaged."

Cain offered no details on how he would spare the poor from the federal sales tax.

wow,

It's amazing how easy it was to predict Cain's rise and fall... All you had to do was be interested enough to look at his policy to realize he lacks any.

I was pretty excited this election, Paul was in, Newt was sharp and Cain seemed like he had potential... Now Cain used the Presidential run to help sell books, Newt is still cool but while rising in the polls ain't still has a long ways to go and even though Paul polls better than most for the entire time we have been having debates people still say he is unelectable but "they like him."

Sad day to see the Republican party settle for Mitt, right after settling for McCain just 3 years ago...

Good news, maybe the guy no one likes (Mitt) will ask Newt to be his VP, because that means something... somehow...

How did it work in Sim City?

It's all such a bunch of honk and jive at this point.

The Republican candidates need to take a cue from Obama's early campaign days- speak in lofty generalized tones, affford everything but promise nothing, and appeal to the dumbest fuckers on two legs. Works for Democrats every time.

Oh, you mean we got a lot of Republican crossovers last time:razz:

Cain is finished. If He goes up against Obama,,,Then Obama will win 400 elv. I'm not kidding.

One of the main reasons I say this is because this will scare the shit out of the lower class(poor and lower middle class) social conservative. You can't win the election without your own base, which it is part of...Hell you need a large percent of the independents to win...YOU WON'T sell this guy to them...

If we're not careful even with this economy, Obama may win bigger in 2012 against Cain.

Cain before this was losing florida by 6 against Obama. You don't win crap without it...Forget PA, Mich(21 points down), and even Iowa is doubtful.

Me, I'd run someone that could get the center and keep most of your base, but run against Obama's fucked up record. Newt(Paul, Mitt) would be a good choice...The difference between now and 2008 is Obama has been shown to suck. People are looking for someone to clean up the cluster fuck.

Romney is your only chance to beat Obama! Perry can't do it, but he'd fare better than the other nuts - Gingrich or Paul. The remaining GOP candidates are completely looney tunes. Right or wrong, those are my honest thoughts.

A recent analysis by Citizens for Tax Justice, a left-leaning think tank, found that under Cain’s 9-9-9 plan, the poorest 60% of taxpayers would pay an extra $2,000 while the richest 1% would get a $210,000 break.

AS I understand the "999 plan" I can't see how the less affluent will not be getting huge tex increases.

In his remarks today at the Venetian casino resort, Cain reiterated that his plan would maintain income tax deductions for charitable donations. But he said he would still keep the plan simple and fair.

Just not quite as simple as some think?

“Get this part,” he said. “No loopholes for anybody.”

What Loopholes?

Again with the unidentified loophole boogieman?

Please tell us ONE loophole this plan will eliminate.

I really dont like this shitbag. He is a liar and a con. He doesnt know what he is doing he is just making stuff up as he goes.

If this was a free country and a working republic there is no way this guy would recieve any positive press.

This clown oozes bullshit out of every orifice of his body!

Herman Cain: 'I Like My Guns And My Bible'

He's an idiot. Flat out, full stop, period. Idiot.

Cain said his opponents, including former Pennsylvania Sen. Rick Santorum, were too focused on what kind of plan could pass Congress. He said he wasn't worried about Congress. That's the "difference between a politician and a problem-solver," Cain said.

Where's he been for the past three years.
