It seems to me that the tragedy of Ferguson underscores a simple truth;

decisions are made by those who show up.

Our police forces are either some of the best in the world or some of the worst in the world depending on whom you ask. If you think they are doing a good job, your responsibility as a citizen is to try to ensure the status quo. If the mayor or County Commish is talking about shutting down the police academy that gave you a good police force...campaign for those who want to maintain it. On the flip side, if you think the academy is churning out cops who take an overly aggressive approach in some cases, campaign against the incumbents.

I don't think this is where the GOP searches for it's soul. Scoring the entirety of their performance will be a much better yardstick.

One of the few things we consertatives believe a government should be doing is enforcing law and order. We are a nation of laws. Breaking them means you should be stopped, because you are infringing on the rights of others.

Maybe you believe store owners have no rights to protect their property, and thugs like Brown have "the right" to rob them, but most sane people don't suscribe to that line of thought.
When a store is being robbed, the owner has the right to stop the perp by any means necessary. When a police officer is being threatened and attacked, he has the right to defend himself the same way. That is exactly what happened that night. Those are the facts, as presented in this grand jury case, and that is why no charges were brought up.
