One thing that I miss, from when I lived in Lompoc (about 1997, I think, 'til mid 2004) was getting to see and hear the rocket launches from Vandenberg.

I used to watch the Space Shuttle launches when I was stationed at MacDill AFB in Tampa. I saw the Challenger explode.
