UN: US inequality reaching a dangerous level due to Trump's 'cruel' measures
Source: The Guardian

Donald Trump is deliberately forcing millions of Americans into financial ruin, cruelly depriving them of food and other basic protections while lavishing vast riches on the super-wealthy, the United Nations monitor on poverty has warned.

Philip Alston, the UN special rapporteur who acts as a watchdog on extreme poverty around the world, has issued a withering critique of the state of America today. Trump is steering the country towards a “dramatic change of direction” that is rewarding the rich and punishing the poor by blocking access even to the most meager necessities.

“This is a systematic attack on America’s welfare program that is undermining the social safety net for those who can’t cope on their own. Once you start removing any sense of government commitment, you quickly move into cruelty,” Alston told the Guardian.

Millions of Americans already struggling to make ends meet faced “ruination”, he warned. “If food stamps and access to Medicaid are removed, and housing subsidies cut, then the effect on people living on the margins will be drastic.”

Anyone that isn't rich should think twice before they ever vote republican again! I am dead serious.
This thread gets 24 "funnies" and counting. It has to be a record.

The "problem" is that people like Barney Frank wouldn't even ADMIT that there was a problem...even as the collapse was happening!

nope

Frank was on Clintons team rescinding Glass Steagal , a huge advocate for the banksters to assume more risk

FF 20 years to the crash, and they put the fox in charge of the hen house , of course the 'hens' lost thier homes to mortgage-backed securities , lost their retirements to hedge funds, as well as watched their jobs and lives dry up via derivatives markets

Then the ignorati went about insisting they were all lazy bum hens who deserved it, while the fox(s) rode off with their pot 'o gold

Yes, clearly the approval of one Congressman kept Bush from acting...

That and his gross incompetence and the bankers owned him.

Congressional reluctance kept Bush from acting, Joey! Congress makes the law. Presidents don't. Barney Frank was the Chairman of the House Financial Committee. With that position he basically controls all legislation dealing with financial institutions. Without his approval...nothing's coming out of that committee. Bush can warn all he wants...Congress still controls the making of laws.

No, Bush's gross fucking incompetence kept him from acting. If this guy could get us into a war no one really needed, he'd have had no problem fixing the banks with the laws and powers he already had.

Bush Sucked As President. Deal with it. If your side didn't realize this, you'd have all gotten behind Jeb instead of the Orange Shitgibbon.

So it's the guy's fault who was WARNING Congress that a melt down of our financial systems could take place and NOT the fault of the guy who said that everything was hunky dory? LOL Every single time you try and argue in one of these strings you come across as an partisan shill, Joey!

If this was any of the leftist-run forums, being the OP has been banned, this thread would be poofed.

But it's not, so carry on. :)

The guy who was giving the warnings was in charge of

The Justice Department
The Treasury Department
the FDIC
the FSLIC
the SEC

And he got out there and said things were just fine, too. Until they weren't.

Okay, going to explain this to you one more time.

Evil F@gg0t Barney Frank wasn't President. Bush was.

This is the road to ruins for the vast majority of Americans...

This is the model of Africa and central America. Is that what you wish for? All the wealth in the hands of 5-10% of the population and most everyone else being nothing more then serfs.

India is a good example of this also.

you got a study which SUPPORTS your contention that Trump has
caused a NEW AND HIGHLY SIGNIFICANT disparity in wealth
here in the USA?---------you got some evidence of starvation?

The President doesn't rule like a king, Joey. If he wants changes he needs to go through the branch of government that creates law...Congress! For you to claim that it's Bush's fault that Congress didn't act is an amusing take on how our system of government is set up to function.

Barney Frank wasn't President...he was however the chairman of the House committee that oversaw all legislation regarding financial institutions. As such he wielded immense power over what would come out of committee and be voted on by the House.

The President doesn't rule like a king, Joey. If he wants changes he needs to go through the branch of government that creates law...Congress!

No, he doesn't. He has a bunch of regulatory powers by virtue of the laws that ALREADY EXISTED.

He just didn't use them. Because the Banks owned his ass and had a second mortgage.

So essentially, what you are saying is that the six years when Bush's party did control congress, but it was only a big deal when the evil poofta was in charge of a committee...

Okay, buddy, you keep trying to pretend Bush was competent and good at his job. Iraq, Katrina, the Recession.... all bang up successes.

What I'm "saying" is that when Barney Frank WAS in charge of the House Finance Committee he not only ignored the warnings that George W. Bush was giving him...he thought that Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac should take on a whole lot MORE sub prime loans!

As for Bush being "competent"? Compared to who? Barry? If W. hadn't set up TARP for the incoming Obama Administration...I'm not sure our financial systems would have survived...that's how clueless Barry and his bumbling minions were when it came to the economy! Katrina was a natural disaster that was FUBARED by the local politicians awful response to the emergency! For some reason you think Bush is to blame for not fixing problems that were created by the Mayor of New Orleans...Ray Nagin...and the Governor of Louisiana...Mary Blanco! Nagin didn't order an emergency evacuation order until the day before the storm hit meaning thousands of residents were trapped in the city! He also sent people to shelters that didn't have food or water! He wouldn't let city school buses be used to evacuate people because of "insurance concerns"! Blanco didn't ask for National Guard assistance until days after the hurricane. Katrina was a mess because the locals made it a mess!

What I'm "saying" is that when Barney Frank WAS in charge of the House Finance Committee he not only...

Dog Style has nightmares about Barney Frank popping out of his closet and ass raping him.

You can day it all day. Bush was at the wheel, not Barney Frank.

Yet Bush left the economy in flames after 8 years and Obama left it growing. How is that?

Katrina was a natural disaster that was FUBARED by the local politicians awful response to the emergency! For some reason you think Bush is to blame for not fixing problems that were created by the Mayor of New Orleans...Ray Nagin...and the Governor of Louisiana...

here's the thing, buddy. Bush is the one who put the Horse Show guy in charge of FEMA. He's the one who created this huge new bureaucracy to deal with exactly these kinds of disasters... and it failed miserably.

Amazingly, Bush might has well not have been president when he was president. Someone else was always to fucking blame.

At least you didn't even try to defend Iraq as a good idea... that would have been fucked up.

In other words the UN states rain is wet.

Trump supporters won’t wake up until they won’t be able to afford rent on their trailer homes.
