Good points. The media - prompted by Patient Zero, Gore - certainly had a lot to do with biased representation of the state of the science. Unfortunately, the field of climate science's boon is pretty soiled with this. In fact, it was only when Climategate hit that scientists in unrelated fields started an uproar about all of the sciences being soiled by this.It's great to see these sorts of summaries of positions of other scientists. I think that back in the 80s and 90s scientists were expecting the data to support the idea of AGW, and the funding made available was a boon to both climate science and affiliated fields. Once it became more obvious that the smoking gun was not there in the 00s, the media and the politicized leadership of many scientific organizations made it difficult to get any attention for skeptical views. Even recently the skeptical papers receive much more difficulty in passing 'peer review', and often are ignored in the media while the rebuttal is publicized. While climategate has slowed this train it certainly hasnt stopped yet.

I think it made a big difference when that retired physicist stood up against global warming alarmism but more importantly exposed the political underpinning of the mission statement given out by the Physical Society. This is something that Old Rocks just doesnt get. Rank and file members don't get a say in what the politically motivated leadership says publicly. And not only in fields connected to climate science.
Right. Unfortunately, I doubt there is any laboratory underground, either. It's all very sad.They've gone underground and are regrouping for a new attack.
