London police officer charged with seven counts of rape

A police officer has been charged with seven counts of rape.

PC Michael Graham, 47, attached to Hounslow borough in west London, was arrested at his home this month and has been suspended, Scotland Yard said.

Graham is charged with seven counts of rape and one count of assault, which are alleged to have taken place between 24 December 2013 and 2 September 2014.

He was arrested while off duty on 6 October.

Officers in the sexual offences, exploitation and child abuse unit are investigating Graham, who is said to have been off duty when the alleged offences were committed.

He will appear at Uxbridge magistrates court on Wednesday.

Scotland Yard said the Directorate of Professional Standards, a police body that investigates the conduct of officers, had been informed.
