Yanukovych drops Ukraine's NATO membership bid
Yanukovych drops Ukraine's NATO membership bid - Hurriyet Daily News and Economic Review

Ukrainian FM:
“The idea of Ukraine's membership in the alliance does not enjoy the support of the majority of Ukrainians and is destructive for the efficiency of the state's foreign policy.”

Also Ukraine and Russia renewed agreements for the Russian Black Sea fleet to be stationed on Crimean Peninsula (Seqastopol) for another 25 years, plus 5 years optional.
After dissolution of Soviets, Ukraine and Russia signed agreement for Sevastopol which was going to expire in the year 2017. Now it is extended by 25+5 years.
In return, Ukraine receives natural gas at a discounted price.

Red dot is Sewastopol, which was founded as a Marine city 220 years ago.
In 1991 the Soviet Black Sea fleet was divided between Ukraine and Russia.

Obama as Senator: "Iran, Cuba, Venezuela? These countries are tiny compared to the Soviet Union. They don't pose any serious threat to us".
Now Obama is President and unfortunately the observations of Prof. Mearsheimer become true.

What Obama meant as Senator:

Tsar Bomba - "King of the Bombs"
equivalent to 1,400 times the combined power of the two nuclear explosives used in Hiroshima and Nagasaki
