uh,ooh Obama is in trouble again. Speeches are not working

Obama is doing well and improving by the minute. History shows us successful Democratic Presidents are met with anger from right wing extremists. Happens every time!
Which, is, of course, why Clinton lost his majority 2 years into his 8 year term, the GOP had a modicum of fiscal responsibility and non-interventionism (until "Their Guy" got in, of course), and the Pres had to "lighten up" and move a bit "right" or "center-ish."

Sooo...

This is dumb bragging, nothing to see people, move along!!!

You expect this sort of overhaul to take effect immediately? Seriously?
Apparently the Dem leadership does, it's such a crisis and emergency and all.
I'm about done with it anyway. There's an ever-growing part of me that hopes and prays the right gets exactly what they want; that we just keep the status quo and keep padding the pockets of multi-billion dollar insurance and pharm---
~yawn~

NO ONE is against health care reform! They are simply against THIS overly intrusive, massively expensive, control-freak BURDEN on the folks!

Why are you not upset at the special interests such as trial lawyers who get NO checks at all in any of these bills put forth? Malpractice reform should be part of ANY health care reform! These trial lawyers making BILLIONS off of mostly frivolous lawsuits cause defensive medicine, which FEEDS "big pharm" AND the insurance companies, who get to charge ASTRONOMICAL rates to doctors! AND it drives up costs unnecessarily.

Zealots say to this, "Well, malpractice costs are only 2%" like that's small? What the fuck do you think 2% of 1/6th of our economy is, peanuts?

For this deal, they need ALL revenue and savings they can generate, but they're sneezing at 2% of 1/6th of our economy? SNEEZING at HUNDREDS OF BILLIONS of savings?

C'mon now, if you think special interests aren't driving this on the Dem side, you're clueless.

And I know you better than that.

What did the Republicans do to *fix* this problem when they had control?

And tort reform is a state issue, not Federal.

Weather tort reform is or is not a state issue, all states need to be doing that, Bush tried to get tort reform through to control the ever rising costs of health care due to the lack of tort reform and the democratic congress turned it down. Wanna know why, Howard Dean, one of your guys admits that the trail lawyer lobbyists are in the back pocket of the democratic party. BTW it is estimated to cost 380 billion dollars a year, in defensive medicine practices.

Do you know how to click on the link with the latest Rasmussen polling data, I think you need to go to the first page and do that.

You're right, except Dem senators like Kent Conrad, Mary Landrieu, or Blanche Lincoln are hardly "right wing extremists". You think FDR had this much trouble getting the New Deal through his own party?

So based on what I would say is your correct assessment, Obama is an unsuccessful Democratic President.

Yes, and he is going to go down in history beating Carter out of 1st place for the WORST president in history if he continues his extreme left ideology.

Hard to be worse than Jimmy Carter. As ineffective and limp wristed as Obama might be, it will take particular skill to match Jimmy's record on inflation, hostage crises, commie dictators bullying the U.S., and gas lines.

So?

Do you think people are going to stop demanding all these bells and whistles? Do you really think that patients are not going to demand MRIs, CTs, PETs, etc?

LOL

As often as not, those tests are run by doctors doing the CYA.

Under the socialized model, you can demand them all you want, but if the bureaucrat says you don't get them you're SOL.

What does that have to do with anything?????????????????????? You can still have your MRIs, CTs, PETs,. Your statement makes absolutely no sense to me.

You don't know what Tort reform is now do ya??? Well let me explain- Medical liability insurance has increased 1400% over the past few years, this costs the average physician app $100,000 for medical malpractice insurance, that cost is passed back onto us in the form of higher fees for service. 85% of physicians in states that have no tort reform practice defensive medicine meaning that they will run the same test on the same patient to make absolutely sure because they do not want to be sued. It is estimated that it costs us $380 BILLION dollars a year. Tort reform would limit the amount of compensation for these lawsuits, instead of getting 50 million for pain and suffering you might get 2 million. The democratic party relies heavily for campaign contributions through the trail lawyer lobbyists. Trail lawyer lobbyists don't want anything to do with tort reform, because many make a living suing our physicians and chasing ambulances.

Bullshit. I see this day in and day out. PATIENTS are demanding these tests. And get royally pissed if the docs don't order them. Does "defensive medicine" exist? Absolutely. But I can guarandamntee you if you were to do away with lawsuits altogether, you'd STILL have them demanding *everything*.

Then you don't understand what is meant by 'defensive medicine', I guess.

Over the past week or so, I've seen him give some barn burners. His job approval seems to be on the way back up at Real Clear.

You can't cut costs without rationing access to those things, regardless of whether an individual, an insurance co, or gov't is writing the check. GOP seems stuck on the idea of who's paying, but under any fee-for-service plan, any hospital admin who wants to keep his job has got to keep MRIs and expensive equip fully utilized, and his boss doesn't care if medicare or Blue Cross is paying for it. Only way to cut that cost is to alter the economic model so access to the MRI is rationed. Fewer will then get produced, and innovation in biomed equip will likely slow. But at the same time there will be fewer medical bankrupticies and budget defiict will drop.

So it's a question of innovation vs. financial progress. You can't have both, regardless of whether you vote Dem or GOP.

One has to believe that things aren't going too well when you feel the need to drag that fossill Jimmy Carter out to come to your aid.

Because they want everything they see on television. The "save a life per week" drama on Grey's Anatomy, and the plethora of miracle drugs pumped into our living rooms 24/7.

Obama is in trouble??

Have you seen the economy? Dow is crowding 10,000 after dipping into the 6000's. Peoples 401K's are rebounding. Are they going to thank the republicans for the rebound? Unemployment is stabilizing and the stimulus has not even kicked in yet. Production is up......Housing is up......Economists declairing an end to the recession.......The republicans? They just voted NO on everything

The wars in Iraq and Afghanistan? We have drawn back from combat zones in Iraq and are drawing down troop strength. Afghanistan is hot now. By 2012 you will see us drawing back our troops and scaling back. By 2012, the wars will not be an issue

Healthcare? It will pass by the end of the year. By 2012, Americans will be realizing it was not that big a deal afterall. Healthcare will be a given by 2012 with once again, the republicans voting.....NO

then why is it such a rush to pass this when it doesnt even kick in till 2013?

Because any bill that's passed is a mere blueprint. Just like a building, it needs to be constructed based on the plan (or blueprints).

This is actually going to be the fun part. Every person and entity having anything to do with constructing the program will be scrutinized right down to the moment of birth and the slightest sordid detail posted on YouTube. We shall soon know if any angels really do exist on earth.
