Uh Oh Windmills create global warming locally!

Maybe a fringe energy in the States but wind turbines can and do supply up to 60% of all electricity in Ireland, so much is produced that an undersea cable has been laid to G.B to sell them the excess.

It appears your numbers are not factual. Ireland's peak energy useage is around 5,000 megawatts. They currently have less than 2,000 megawatts installed. They don't ever even PLAN on having 60% of its power generated from wind power.

So who are you shilling for? You live up to your name there mawlarky, or is it blarney?

"The blustery situation has created a rush toward wind in the nation. The Republic of Ireland already has installed about 800 megawatts worth of wind turbines, and wind park developers have or are expected to file applications to put an additional 3,700 megawatts worth of wind onto the grid. The government will likely surpass its goal of having 1,200 megawatts of wind by 2010. (Ireland's ultimate goal is to get 33 percent to 42 percent of its electricity from renewable sources by 2020, a fairly high figure for an industrialized nation.)"

Ireland: Where wind power is king | Green Tech - CNET News

Dont know where you are getting your fiqures from but they are rubbish, Ireland currently has a wind turbine output of 121, 000 megawatts not 2,000, hardly a fringe energy scource even by your own fiqures. I now know how the SR71 pilots felt when they looked up and saw RAF Lightnings flying above the worlds so called highest altitude aircraft lol.
Ireland Wind Power

You don't know too much about aircraft either it seems. The MAX altitude for a Lightning was 80,000 feet. The SR-71 CRUISED at 80,000 feet. It's max altitude is still classified but is known to be in excess of 100,000 feet.

What that means dear mr. blarney is while the Habu was dusting along at 80k the pilot could look out the side window and see the Lightning falling off of one wing in a tip stall as it plunged back down to lower altitude where he could regain control again after his ballisitic flight regime got him to 80k. Then the Habu pilot would increase his speed and climb a further 20,000 just to make sure whatever missile was fired couldn't reach him.

You're pretty ignorant and your pathetic attempt at an insult on reinforces that.

As far as your claims of 60% go, here is the Irish Wind Associations report,

"The current* grid connected and operational installed wind capacity on the island of Ireland is 1746.7 Megawatts (MW) which will on average generate 4,743,339 Megawatt hours (MWh) in a year given a 31% load**or capacity factor.

Sustainable Energy Ireland's 2008 Report, "Energy in the Residential Sector" report states that the average household consumed 5.591 MWh in 2006.page 27 If we assume that electricity consumption growth is roughly similar as previous years (around 3%) this means that in 2010, wind energy accounts for the electricity needs of over 753,000 domestic households in Ireland.

*Figures correct on 19/07/10.
** A 31% load factor or capacity factor means that we assume that the actual output or electricity generation over the year from wind generation is 31% of its maximum capacity."

Irish Wind Energy Association - Wind Energy in Ireland

And here is what YOUR link said about the subject...

A new record for the wind power industry was reached a couple of weeks ago when on Friday, July 31, output from Ireland's wind turbines peaked at 999 megawatts - generating enough power to supply more than 650,000 homes. This represents 39 percent of the country's demand for electricity.

Today, Ireland has 139 active wind farms, with another 20 megawatt wind farm currently under construction in Tyrone county. That wind farm was actually sold last February to Irish electricity company, ESB. When completed, eight Nordex 2.5 megawatt wind turbines will generate enough power to supply 11,200 homes annually. ESB actually has plans to build its wind portfolio to 600 megawatts by 2012.

Ireland now boasts a cumulative installed wind power capacity of 121,013 megawatts. And 2020 projections put the country's total installed capacity at 590,915 megawatts!

Which means you are either too fucking stupid to understand what a press briefing actually is saying or you're a liar. So which is it? Are you merely an idiot, or are you a pathological liar?
