U.S. Unemployment rate Increases to 9%

» CBO: Real Unemployment Is 15 Percent - Big Government

"The Congressional Budget Office released a report Thursday that showed real unemployment in America at 15 percent for the month of January, a figure considerably higher than the White House’s oft-cited 8.3 percent figure that does not include part-time workers seeking full-time work or those who have given up hope of finding a job altogether.

Furthermore, the CBO reported that the “United States is experiencing the longest stretch of high unemployment since the Great Depression” with no end in sight through 2014.

Worse, the CBO reports that the ravages of the Obama Economy have created an unprecedentedly high rate of long-term unemployment, which the CBO defines as a person who has been seeking work for over 26 months."

There's no such thing as the "real" unemployment numbers.

There's U-3, and there's U-6. Neither one is more "real" than the other.

Comparing the two is intellectually dishonest.

Yeah we know nothing is ever real in demworld. That's a given.

Sadly, I didnt think the decrease would last long. And im sure it will be hire with this gas price spike.

We cant fix our economy while ignoring the problem and spending money we dont have on political cronies.

Sure, that is the root of all our problems. Please change the broken record.

Fix the problem and I wont have to talk about it all the time.

We need a policy change.

Obama has tried boosting the economy his way ..it hasn't and isn't working.

It never can and never will work. And Im not sure it was intended to work, atleast not they way we are talking about.

Funny how CON$ never cited Gallup, CBO or underemployment during Bush's two failed terms!!! Back then the lowest BLS number was gospel.

Not really a need to cite unemployment stats when we are at or near full employment.

"Real" unemployment was over 20% by the end of the Bush Regime and never under 10%.

Not quite.

U-6 hovered around 8-10 for most of Bush's term, then up to 17 at the end, and down to 15 now.

But we've never been anywhere near "full employment".

Those are Bush's BLS numbers and CON$ tell us that the president cooks the numbers to make himself look good. You can't accept BLS numbers from Bush and reject them from Obama. You either accept them from both or reject them from both and since CON$ reject them from Obama, I reject them from Bush. Bush's numbers would be cooked more than Obama's because UI was only 26 weeks instead of 99 so there were almost 4 times as many discouraged workers who weren't counted under Bush. :eusa_whistle: Bush's "real" U-6 was more like at least 15% to 25% and probably higher.
