U.S. Unadjusted Unemployment Down to 7.0% in October

WASHINGTON, D.C. -- U.S. unemployment, as measured by Gallup without seasonal adjustment, fell to 7.0% for the month of October, down significantly from the 7.9% measured at the end of September. Gallup's seasonally adjusted unemployment rate is 7.4%, improved more than a half a point from September.

These results are based on Gallup Daily tracking interviews, conducted by landline and cell phone, with approximately 30,000 Americans throughout the month -- 68.3% of whom in October reported being active in the workforce. The monthly average for October excludes Oct. 29 and Oct. 30, the two days that Gallup did not poll because of the effects of Superstorm Sandy on the East Coast. Gallup calculates a seasonally adjusted unemployment rate by applying the adjustment factor the government used for the same month in the previous year. For October, Gallup applied the .04 upward adjustment the government used last year.

We need to start modernizing our energy grid
More money for science
Go back to the moon(a few hundred thousand more high paid jobs)

This is the kind of employment we need. NOT FAST FOOD.

Hey, I agree with you on that, but those types of programs require tax dollars, and right now a good percentage of Americans don't want to pay anymore in taxes. We can't spend more money on those types of programs when we are borrowing money just to pay for our current programs.

If you believe the Constitution is the supreme law of the land, go read Article 1, Section 8, Clause 8, and see how your opinion squares with it.

We need to lower the corporate taxes and regs on the private sector. The government always had a part in developing new tech through R@D and paying the private sector to go forward with it.

Just not centralizing control over them like Obama is doing.

China is becoming the global power it is based off of programs like those.

China is becoming a global power because their middle class is growing. Even though the majority of their people still live in poverty, they have over 1.3 billion people. Their middle class is already over 300 million strong, but you need to understand, being middle class in China doesn't mean earning an equivalent amount as in the US because the cost of living is much lower.

As for the future, once the Chinese figure out they can produce products to sell to their own people, their economy is going to grow faster than anything we have ever seen. They literally have the potential to quadruple our GDP eventually, although it will be some time before that happens. Investing in China makes great sense if you want to make big bucks in the long run.

Constitutionally the feds have NO roll in funding R&D unless it is defense related. The feds only roll it to provide copyrights and patents to companies and individuals. If you think that should be changed that is what Article 5 is for.
