U.S. Medal of Honor winners slam Kerry
Washington, DC, Jul. 27 (UPI) -- A letter signed by 24 Congressional Medal of Honor winners criticizing U.S. Sen. John Kerry, D-Mass., was released Tuesday.

"We are disturbed," they said, "that John Kerry would try to scare veterans with his false accusations, and we are disappointed in his lack of support for today's troops."

While a war hero himself, Kerry's record, the 24 winners of the nation's highest award for military valor said, shows he is "out of the mainstream."

"President Bush." they wrote, "has led the way on improving veterans' benefits, supporting our troops and restoring honor and dignity to the White House."

"Since 2001, "President Bush has increased veterans funding by over $20 billion, and funding for veterans' health care has increased by 40 percent since he took office. Funding for veterans has gone up twice as fast under President Bush as it did under President Clinton, and those who accuse the President of cutting funding are simply not being honest with veterans."

The ex-service members hit Kerry for what they said was his vote, "against a $1.3 billion increase in veterans' health care," as well as his missed votes on veterans' matters and for having, "voted against funding for our troops in Afghanistan and Iraq."

Why does any of the above surprize you? Show me liberal that "doesn't" hate the military, and I'll show you a pig that can fly.

From Al Franken's latest book, Lies and the Lying Liars Who Tell Them, page 212, second paragraph.

"Later, at the after-party given by Bloomberg News, I went up to Paul Wolfowitz, the deputy secretary of defense, and the architect of the Bush preemption doctrine. "Hi, Dr. Wolfowitz. Hey, the Clinton military did a great job in Iraq didn't it?"
He looked at me for a couple of seconds, then said, "Fuck you."

How about ex-pres Clinton? Bush seems to be utilizing Clinton's vastly expanded, mobile, 21st century military pretty darn well. Someone brought this up to Karl Rove at a white house dinner, something to the effect of "Clinton's military is doing a good job in Afghanistant" to which Rove responded, "Fuck you."

I think its an absurdly overly-caustic Coulter-esque blanket accusation to say that no Liberal "likes" the military. Any closet-er-moderates, or rational peoples wanna agree that rational liberals (the vast majority) know that the military is necessary and "good"?

You need to provide a link for this event. Quickly, otherwise you are lying about a well-known person.

I'd like to see that link as well.

And back to my statement, what I meant was, show me a "liberal" President that didn't GUT the military while in office, in my life time... 1955 to present, and I'll show you a pig that can fly.

I don't think I'll have to, but I can always build a trebuchet.

nakedemperor is this similar to Moores claim that Dascheld huged him, while Daschle vehemently denies it.

There was no hug between "Fahrenheit 9/11" director Michael Moore and Senate Minority Leader Tom Daschle at the film's June 23 premiere in Washington, D.C., Daschle said Thursday.

When asked about Moore's account of a hug after the premiere and the criticism Daschle has received for it, the South Dakota Democrat said he and Moore did not embrace. Daschle said his schedule forced him to arrive late and leave early.

"I know we senators all tend to look alike. But I arrived late, and I had to leave early for Senate votes. I didn't meet Mr. Moore," Daschle said. . . .

Daschle, who was at the premiere at the invitation of producer/distributor Harvey Weinstein, said he and Moore have never met.
