Here in Europe we have heard in news (among many other things) that the U.S. Supreme Court ruled that corporations can spend freely in federal elections. In general that gives biggest power in politics to those who have most money. This leads to rule of few and rich and democracy itself has failed.

How I –and many others – see it, that we are afraid that you are heading towards civil war. While rich people get even richer, there is a growing group of those who can´t afford even food. If you have to bury your child only because you couldn´t buy decent food or get her a doctor for a illness which could have been easily cured if you only had money. Or if you lose your whole life savings to doctor and medicine bills, you sooner or later start to feel that something is horribly wrong.

Just in case you're serious...In the U.S. hospitals are required to provide services for anyone that walks into the emergency room, regardless of their ability to pay. U.S. welfare programs provide food, medical care, housing and even cell phones to the poor.

When people have nothing more to lose, they are ready to desperate actions. I´m not trolling you nor trying to annoy you. I am sincere, that this is the state you seem to be when looking from here.

Your FIRST MISTAKE? Being a European...second? ASSUMING that WE operate as you SOCIALISTS do. Fact is? WE DON'T.

The Decision was a SHOT in the arm to OUR FIRST AMENDMENT, and a major BLOW to McCain Feingold, and other LAWS here that tend to keep INCUMBENTS in power.

The third world will completely collapse long before the US does. Now, I'm not saying that's not possible. If you've been watching the third world, food riots and instability is a growing concern. But as of right now... the US is still in pretty good shape.

There's really only one way I even see stability in this country threatened, and it's not on civil war level, but it won't be pretty. I'll just leave it at that.

Looking at the article is laughable, apparently this professor has never been to the US, despite our differences in opinion at times we are americans and most of us are proud of that fact. Now Obama can go apologize and bow to any nation he wants to and while I think it is a disgrace for his office to do that, I would not call the US weak or subservient. We still have a powerful military that supports and defends the constitution. I do not see the united states erupting in civil war and letting other nations come in and take up the pieces. hell they must think we are like the french or something now, people still remember and are still proud and would fight occupation off till the last of their breath be you liberal or conservative. That is one thing that unites all of us Americans. Yes we argue amongst ourselves from time to time but really please..........

That is the problem with different cultures from understanding each other...the other country assumes and judges based on their own concepts and predjudices and what Experts tell them, they are always wrong, that is why we cannot figure out how to attain peace in the middle east including Afganistan and Iraq and why this proffessor is totally off his rocker and why Europe Russia and China are totally wrong about the USA.

The problem in this country is that a small group of righty-whiteys who do have money think that the rest of the country, specifically those who have less, owe them, should work for whatever they choose to pay, if they feel like paying, and should have no recourse to any remedies.

Just out of curiosity since you apparently do not like the current labor markets where the seller (worker) sells his/her labor to the buyer (employer) at a mutually agreed upon price. What sort of system should we replace that with? one where the seller just determines the price for his/her labor and the buyer is forced under penalty of fine or imprisonment to accept it?
