Are you a Republican, Democrat, Libertarian, or Independent? Do you consider yourself conservative, liberal, progressive, revolutionary or reactionary?
Do you favor Caveat Emptor and/or lassiez faire Capitalism, Socialism, Communism or a mixed economy? Idealist or pragmatist?

Using 140 or less characters share what you believe. Too much time and energy is spent on this MB calling others names. What do you believe is the best political/economic framework to provide for the greatest good to the greatest number of Americans?

Capitalism with regulation as necessary to prevent abuse of the system
(not profound but just 60 characters)

As an historical example, the failure of the ruling class to restrain from exercising its own power can be seen as a cause for the end of the Roman Republic. Its collapse was brought about not so much by a need to defend its frontiers, or the creation of a “bread and circus” society (as a public benefit), as much as those conditions resulted from a governing class incapable of forgoing their own self promotion and power for the benefit of the greater societal good.

Whatever was not owned by the government was considered spoils for the Senate, and as a last resort for survival the evicted poor ended up on the dole in the capitol city. Once there, to keep them from becoming agitated, they were given an allowance of free bread for subsistence and circuses for entertainment. Unlimited grasping for power ended the Republic, and created an effective dictatorship and a civil war, which then resulted in a monarchy to settle the civil violence.

Human nature does not change

How about some of what actually works within all of the above? Oddly enough, that's how this country has successfully survived for 211 years.

Of course, and that is exactly why I was surprised to read a reasoned answer. Maybe we all ought to focus on what brings us together, and not the hate, fear and ain't it awful speech of a captious few.

real men don't eat quiche or tweet on twitter.

Pheeew. I've never twitted, I used the word "tweet" to avoid long rants on this thread. BTW, quiche is quite good. Eggs, cheese, onions, sausage, bacon and cream in pie crust. What's not to like (unless you're a cardiologist).
So, I don't tweet but I do eat quiche and I've never wondered if I'm a real man. I suppose those who do wonder, ain't.

Yum. I haven't made quiche in ages, so I'm gonna pick up everything tomorrow to make one. There used to be a small bakery/deli that made delicious spinnach quiche and I would just buy them there, but alas, they went out of business when people suddenly realized they in debt up to their eyeballs and had to go back to using ovens instead of microwaves.

Yes what a chick magnet.

A quiche eating, tweeting, hair moussing "man".

Why not post a pic of yourself (or how you WISH you looked) and let the chics vote.

You first sexy

And where have I ever said that I was a chick magnet?

I just can't imagine a woman wanting a man that spends more time getting ready than she does.

I am reminded of a time when I used to go to a gym to work out. I had just gotten out of the shower and wanted to shave and get out. All 8 sinks in the locker room were taken up by guys blow drying their hair. Some of them even had those little round brushes.

I said as loudly as I could so as to be heard over the blow dryers, "Excuse me, I thought this was the men's locker room" right then I decided to grow a beard and left.

I have to agree about the hair. Why a man WANTS to leave the house with his hair looking like a kewpie doll's is beyond my understanding. Or the "wet" look. Yuk, my imagination goes to what the sheets will look like in the morning. Back in the day, it was this, not mousse:
