Turkish newspaper: Conditions for Ankara to recognize the Kurdish state in KRG

iraq just like Joe Biden suggested will be divided into the states , Kurdistan , middle iraq and south iraq.

Its looking like that may be the best option, Saddam Hussein kept the country together by brute force but with him gone theres so much distrust and antimosity, "Iraq" was never a real country to begin with.

Like the referendum about Kirkuk (Article 140 of Iraqi constitution), that was supposed to happen in 2007, but was scrapped ?

it is just still ongoing as the compensation process which is part one of the article has just ended, next is census which is related to all of Iraq and them referendum .

I can understand your "nationalism", but it doesn't work the way you like it to have. The N.Iraq situation is just one part of what else is going on in the region.

first its called kurdistan , there is no N.iraq, 2nd KRG's proclaiming independence via a referendum has nothing to do with nationalism , and now the date has been set ;).

If the Kurds can get neighboring countries to buy in they have a much better chance at getting their own country.

Iraq is a British and French project , the people of Iraq never had the right nor consent to decide on this artificial border , and kurds are about set the records straight once and for all , followed by the Arab Sunni region .

the time is right , also the Gulf states want the same for the Sunni region now.

well look at it for a 2nd , iran is in deep shit for its nuke , Syria is suffering from civil war , Iraq is at edge of a sectarian war , Turkey is suffering from the kurdish issue . for once in history kurdish enemies are all having internal issues and time is right to proclaim a kurdish state which has been established since 1991 thanks to the NO FLY ZONE :clap2:

also kurdistan was too like Syria Iraq , suppose to get independence according to "treaty of Sevres" in 1923 , but we were instead divided among 4 other hostile nations in ME.

Sunni Vice-President is already in exile and Maliki searches him with arrest-warrant. Iraq may indeed be partitioned, but not somewhere soon.
Syria is far more pressing issue, but it interconnects with Iraq and the other dynamics which are currently fought out in the region.

Biden said that in 2006, he wasn't even Vice-President at that time.
When he became Vide-President he had the opportunity to "partition" Iraq.
Well, he didn't do it and the USA "redeployed".

The dynamics unfold independent from what Biden says in USA. In election-cycle the USA anyway avoids any bigger problem, see Syria.

Muslims sure know how to fuck things up even after 1400 years.

this map is no longer valid as it was the map of 2002 . the borders of the provinces have changed now back to their original statues after been fiddled with by Saddam in 1968, specially in Diyala , Ninevah Salahadin and Kirkuk ;).

The Kurds need their own country and with so much mistrust between the Sunni and Shite Arabs left in Iraq, I would say they do as well. The country we see now as Iraq will probably be broken into several different countries in the coming years, like the old Yugoslavia.

I honestly hope it works out, the Kurds are some of the few friends the US has left in the region, I truly wish them the best and I hope they get their own country soon.

true map of the regions as per ethnic groups and indeed it is like this now with each of the 3 main ethnic groups controlling their own territories .

this is what KRG is like , and its totally controlled by Kurdistan army separating it from the Sunni region borders , you see iraq is divided just needs proclaiming by Kurdistan and the Sunni region , as they the Sunnis have all called their regional autonomy in the past 6 months or so .

The Kurds are really not part of Iraq, their have their own language and culture, their own Military, Police force, their own airport in Irbil, hell they even make oil deals on their own without Baghdad, Iraqi police and Military don't even have any authority over Kurdistan, the Kurds are part of Iraq on paper, but in reality are their own country.

Senior Sunni and Shia politicians have privately raised the question of whether Ankara is seeking to control northern Iraq’s economy and politics, in effect drawing the former Mosul vilayet into an explicitly Turkish orbit. For example, when asked about the 50/50 split of the March 2010 election results in the disputed province of Kirkuk between Iraqiyya and the Kurdistan Alliance, a senior adviser to Prime Minister Maliki caustically remarked that “some external party” had arranged this neat division.38 Likewise, one of Iraq’s most senior Sunni politicians said that Turkey’s ever-increasing activity in northern Iraq is a source of concern to Iraqi nationalists in light of the ideological underpinnings of neo-Ottomanism.

To complete the circle, though enjoying the benefits of transformed relations with Ankara, some Kurdish politicians worry that Ankara seeks to use economic dependence to turn the Kurdistan region into a Turkish vassal.

The "Turkish newspaper article" on what this thread is based on, is off course total bullshit. I don't think, that Turkey is in a position, that it is being presented "conditions" Turkey has to agree on.

The ottoman turkeys denied arab independence for 400 years so the kurds better not hold their breath. Hopefully, the turkeys won't genocide them like they did the Armenians.
