Turkish investment in the region has soared sixfold to more than $30bn in a decade, a period that saw per-capita income in Turkey almost triple as it enjoyed Asian-tiger style growth. Turkey’s expanding trade with the region accounts for about a fifth of its external trade, and Mena in turn accounts for close to 10 per cent of foreign direct investment into Turkey.
