This is all good; the animals are focused on butchering each other for a change, and that is a plus. The shame is the West not doing enough to aid the really oppressed in those countries and instead are pandering to Muslims, i.e. just backasswards policy, on top of arming Iran with nukes. Pure idiocy.

All dictators eventually collapse; keeping the collateral damage from spreading is sane policy. The real issue for Americans is how much more will Obama screw up as a lame duck with a year or so left to work on enthusiastically spreading the violence and death to Europe and the U.S. We know Hillary and Lurch are completely incompetent re foreign policy and dealing with reality, so no sanity apparent in that direction.

Wow. Big breaking news: Reuters didn't even have it up at all as of 7:30 today. NATO instantly called an emergency meeting, no waiting. This on top of Europe in chaos, Brussels shut down entirely for a FOURTH day. And the Crimea cut off from electricity because somebody (presumably Ukrainians) blew up all their electricity pylons.

Gerard Baker, editor of the Wall Street Journal, who also puts out an email "10-point" news summary, quickly put the fighter jet shoot-down at the top and sent it out. He says "The incident highlights the gathering peril in the multi-sided war that is rapidly spreading its tentacles around the world."

Right: I have thought for a couple weeks now that we are in a multi-nation war but don't know it yet, everything is so confusing. But that's what always happens: the beginnings of wars are incredibly confusing and people don't know what is going on. WWI: everyone on both sides said it would be Over by Christmas! Back before the leaves fall!. But in fact it was the beginning of the longest and worst two wars in human history.

I think the war monster is growing right now and will soon be impossible to ignore.

Putin isn't going to start a war with the U.S. or any European country, and especially not over an incident such as this. He can't even pacify the Ukraine, and with a military far larger to play with, though still way too small to swing the balance in the ME.
