You can't get TB from sharing needles and it is not an STD. Sharing "smokes" and "joints"..... maybe.

Well no it isn't an STD - however you have a good chance of cathing it if you have sex with someone who has it...unless you wear a gas mask.

TB is highly contagious in an enclosed environment and prolonged exposure to someone even outside.

It's spread via the respiratory path so you could make the same argument about someone sneezing or coughing in your face.

TB is not highly contagious. Relative to other airborne pathogens, it's hard to catch TB.

Although tuberculosis is contagious, it's not especially easy to catch. You're much more likely to get tuberculosis from someone you live with or work with than from a stranger. Most people with active TB who've had appropriate drug treatment for at least two weeks are no longer contagious.

The fear mongering around this issue is absurd. People are acting like TB is contagious on the order of smallpox. That's absurd.

Furthermore, there is a difference between being exposed to TB and having a lifetime of positive PPD tests, having latent TB and not being infectious or sick, and active TB.
