TSA pats down naked woman in wheel chair, TWICE!

Set up or not - she certainly made it very easy to determine whether she was carrying a knife, gun or bomb strapped to her waist. The very simple solution would be that if she's done it before and TSA employees know who she is - apparently a frequent flier - they should have simply called the cops and had her arrested for indecent exposure instead of making a big whooha about it and adding more fuel to an already contentious issue for fliers.

I join - Big Time! There is something obviously fishy going on here. Looks like a setup to me. In fact, I'm wondering if she is even IN an airport. I'm thinking they just overlaid (you should pardon the expression) her into the airport scene. Notice how NONE of the men in the area are even looking at her? And, toss in, she looks like a professional stripper.

There is simply no way that anyone is going to allow a woman to sit in public dressed like that. And gals, let me ask you - would you stand still for something like that yourselves? Of course not.

Setup. Hoax. Bull shit.

Tsk tsk George. One guy was talking about how he wanted his phone, someone asked the guard about her, and someone else told them to put the phone away, a violation of TSA policy by the way. If this is a hoax they managed to fool both USAToday and CBS. They even got her name.

Tammy Banovac, Protesting TSA Pat-Downs, Confronts Airport Security in Bra and Panties - Crimesider - CBS News

It was a protest against getting patted down simply because she is in a wheelchair, and the TSA still patted her down.

Don't "Tsk, Tsk," me, QW. Your thread title, and the wording of your OP clearly created the impression that this woman was somehow forced to strip to her undies against her will, and was then being forced to sit out in front of God and everybody, waiting for further searching to be conducted. Don't try and ooze out of it, either - that is PRECISELY the tone you wanted to create with this thread.

Then, we find out, that she was doing this voluntarily, as a protest, i.e., it was a setup.

Big difference, my man.

One would almost think that YOU were taken in by the video, and actually believed what you were trying to convey with your thread title and in the wording of the OP. Could that have been the case, hmmmm?

They did? Why? The story I posted was that she dressed that way on purpose to avoid having to be patted down. I then asked what she was hiding, and where. The tone I wanted to create with the thread is that the TSA in OK has no common sense, they should be able to see that she is not carrying a bomb, yet they searcher her anyway. I exaggerated her lack of clothing for an effect, but it was not to make it seem the TSA forced her to strip. I can post dozens of links to people who approached the problem the same way, though most of them wore bathing suits, not lingerie. I can even post one of a woman who was told to put on a jacket before going through screening, but most of those are benign.

This, however, is outrageous. People can think, and should be able to see that a pat down here is not a necessity. If, as they claim, they found nitrates on her hands, they could have subjected her luggage to extra screening.

You are a defense attorney, you should know that false positives on those types of tests are not just possible, they are all but inevitable. Most police departments have dropped using them entirely, yet the TSA uses them anyway. Why do you think they use a test that is so unreliable in the first place?

I will admit I worded the thread to be provocative, but I did not intend for anyone to think the TSA made her strip. The fact is that, even though she was all but naked, the TSA still patted her down. Why? If the police patted down someone dressed like that wouldn't they be subject to disciplinary procedures and possible criminal prosecution? Shouldn't we hold the people who supposedly hold our lives in their hands to the same standards?

Nothing, including the truth, will get in QWs quest to trash the TSA at every turn.

What difference does that make... its still rediculous!

The TSA is being used to torment normal everyday Americans.

Exactly what our enemies planned all along IMO.

They win.... scoreboard Al Queda

The truth makes a huge difference...sorry you don't see it that way.

here's another question. Why in the background is dude saying to his friend "my phone can't get through this machine fast enough" They don't send phones or other electronics through the X Ray machine.

Uhh....

The woman was sent home because she failed the test for bomb-making chemicals. I think that everyone now knows that yes, you can hide a bomb in your underwear.

This woman was making a spectacle for publicity, and you guys sucked it up.

For one you have to check your pets. Don't you usually do that before you go through security?

Pets in the Passenger Cabin

That was actually a good question. The one time I flew with an animal I had to check him, but it turns out it is not required, it the carrier fits under the seat. My assumption is that the TSA does not require passengers to send animals through x-ray scanners as long as they are demonstrably alive.

You have to take the pets out and walk, hold them though the metal detector.

You mean the carry on x ray machine? They send electronics though it all the time. Laptops, phones, testing equipment.

I tried to recycle them, but no one would take them, something about them not being made from the right plastic.

No the guy in the clip is talking about his phone that is on the belt going through the carry on x ray machine. Its not coming out fast enough because he wants to take pics or film clip of the woman sitting in her underwear.

They send every piece of electronics you have though the scanners. Everything.

No, read the article again. She was patted down previously, because when you arrive at security in a wheelchair that is standard procedure if you cannot walk through the metal detector. She hoped to avoid a pat down by wearing her underwear, and she did. No one patted her down. I do hope they made her stand up to visually make sure nothing was in her underwear.

Now you germophobes should be outraged. Underwear is only a very, very thin barrier against germs...

No one patted her down? Why was she denied boarding the plane then? Because she was not dressed?
