Worked pretty well over the past 30 years or so, until the fools in DC started allowing everybody and his brother to buy a house whether they could afford it or not. Too easy credit, bad loans, housing bubble, credit crunch. None of which has anything to do with supply side economics. Or the Bush tax cuts either.

To be precise, trickle down is not really synonymous with capitalism or free enterprise, it's more of a theory that if the workers of America eat the crumbs that fall from the tables of the rich then the rich should be given bigger meals.
