Trump’s phone call reminded me that I made a few bucks from Quemoy & Matsu:

Second Taiwan Strait Crisis - Wikipedia

A few of the break/bulk freighters I sailed delivered materials to Formosa. My pay doubled on those days the ship was inside the “war zone”.

Now some serious stuff

Way back when then-Senator Joe Biden, and retired RINO Senator Richard Lugar, were pushing for ratifying the Law of the Sea Treaty (LOST) nonbody mentioned Taiwan. Suffice to say that not one United Nations treaty is good for Americans. The Senate refusing to ratify the LOST was a gift to the American people.

NOTE: The Senate not ratifying the LOST surely contributed to the sewer rat calling treaties TRADE AGREEMENTS.

Incidentally, to this day nobody ever explained how ratifying the LOST would have stopped China’s island-building aggression in the South China Sea:

Taiwan Deploys Warship to South China Sea: Hague Ruling 'Seriously Hurt Our Rights'

When push comes to shove America will have to defend itself —— with or without the LOST —— irrespective of rulings out of The Hague. Americans have to be careful they are not manipulated into enforcing rulings handed down by the UN’s judiciary.

Incidentally, I often say Formosa. I do it because over the years I’ve noticed that it annoys liberals. I also say Peking instead of Bejing because it annoys China ass-kissers on the Left.

And to me, Myanmar will always be Burma; Sri Lanka will always be Ceylon. There are more countries whose names changed since my youth, but I still think of the names they had before I swallowed the anchor.

The sewer rat selling out Taiwan for eight years was to be expected because it advances Communism without all of the backlash the Communist victory in Vietnam triggered against the Left. Few Americans today can locate Taiwan on a map let alone understand its significance.

China’s military capabilities already in place includes WMD. That makes the loss of an independent Taiwan far more of a threat to America than anything that might, or might not, happen in the Middle East. I’m not downplaying the war against Muslim terrorists. Far from it. The best way to understand my position is to imagine the most radical Muslim countries having the same military capabilities as does Communist China.

Incidentally, I believe that Biden had more to do with the sewer rat’s foreign policy than the White House will admit to. Obama’s spin is an exercise in schizophrenia. He dare not take the heat for his decision to try enemy combatants in a federal court so he blames Holder. Conversely, he cannot blame Biden for selling out an ally; so he has to take the heat for that one while his vice president continues to play the talkative clown.

Why am I certain that Biden has so much to say in foreign policy? That is easy. Obama is a man of average intelligence being touted as a gifted orator whose charisma was supposed to sell the Democrat party agenda. Biden is not that bright either, but he is a classic Socialist ideologue with enough experience to betray this country to the United Nations/International Community (UNIC) without getting caught at it. Biden’s experience trumps Obama’s limited intelligence every time. And the sewer rat did say that he picked his vice president because of his foreign policy expertise.

On a military level the UN will look the other way when Peking invades Taiwan. The government of China benefits from the invasion to be sure, while advancing Communism in order to appease the UNIC is the reason Trump’s phone call caused the Left’s latest outrage.

Worse still is that the Chicoms expect a lot more than Taiwan from Obama before the clock runs out. An examination of the people in his administration tells us that China harbors realistic expectations.
