Evidently so they fear him or they wouldn't go to lengths to discredit him..Yet he is a contender for the campaign, Cortez is not. So attacking a non-candidate in a campaign season is a wasted effort.

Probably. 4 of the last 5 presidents were 2 termes and (counting JFK and LBJ as one) we’ve only had one president who was a one termer going back to FDR.
