if he fails to get the Republican nomination.
just reported according to FNC

Shades of Ross Perot, both "loose cannons with bad haircuts"
It's a cinch he won't get the Republican nomination.

Hmmmm....I wonder how bad the GOP will be hurt by losing their "birther" base?

Will that hurt the GOP or the Dems more?

He appeals to those who are persuaded by sound-bites. His policy statements are mostly empty rhetoric. Whether it be "birfers" or just those who are impressed by showmanship, he will split the vote of those who prefer anyone but Obama.

Let's say he does run as an Independent. He will be taking time and notice away from serious candidates. But let's look further... he has the money to buy the best advisors and camp[aign specialists money can buy if they want to go with Trump. And if Trump listens to his advisors and behaves as they tell him, perhaps he would be an apt candidate.

And about the birther issue...I do believe there are more Americans who wonder about it that would rather push it aside. Not sure if they want to open the can of worms, but they wonder.

I personally would say, open the can of worms and I don't think Trump could follow the advice of any advisor. He's been his own man for far too long to listen to others.

I believe it would hurt the GOP more. Whether one agrees or disagrees with Trump, he does have an uncanny ability to get to the point. And that alone makes him appealing, as many Americans are tired of talk alot and say very little and do even less politicians. He could end up being the best thing that happens to the Dems in the runup to 2012 if he runs as an independent.

Any fool who would willingly support and vote for the self promoting asshat should have their voter registration card forcibly removed and denied voting rights for life. This is all a stunt to get his name in the media. For Trump, there is no such thing as bad publicity.

I think the rising interest in Trump's inananities pressured Romney to announce his exploration of candidacy yesterday, 1-day before the historic enactment of the govt healthcare in Mass. He decided that to let any more time go by was more costly to him than the obvious downside of drawing attention to the most obvious negative he has going for him.

The "birthers" are obviously part of the GOP base. I haev no idea how large their numbers are. However, some of those birthers are also Tea Partiers. To hear the rhetoric, the Tea Partiers are a HUGE part of the GOP base. If Trump could pull those from the GOP as well? Yeah, I would say it would kill the GOP's chances in 2012.

Both, actually all of the parties have their share of those voters; they're first people to jump on a bandwagon when a new personality suddenly emerges. Unfortunately all the action in that regard will be in the camp opposing Obama. Could anyone at all challenge Obama from the left?

I don't see anyone from the left emerging. Just as the far right wingnuts are not embraced in a general election, far left wingnuts would fare the same.

He's not running.

He's been down this road before..and generally gives up.

But even if he does..so what.
That isn't what he said Sallow; he said he would run in any event. If he couldn't get the nomination, then he would run as an independent.

His background as a developer/builder means he has a bent to bluffing, and that may be all it's about; bluffing to see what it will get him.

Builders, developers, men of action understand that every day they have to go out and bluff the world, and that's inate in his personality IMO

Reagan was an actor that ran on popularity
Bush was an empty suit that ran on his fathers coat tails
Obama was an inexperienced freshman senator with no proven governing experience
that ran on a vision and words

I think you guys put way too much credibility in logic as it pertains to the actions of the electorate.

This right there is even more proof that that man isn't Presidential material.

A good leader listens and takes advise.

Not only dictates and tell's others what to do.

And I assume you know for a fact that he never takes advice?
