"We have to get prices down for a lot of reasons. We have no choice, for Medicare and Medicaid," Trump said at the meeting, citing the nation's government insurance programs for the elderly, the poor and the disabled that together are the largest U.S. purchaser of medications.

Trump also said currency devaluation by other countries had increased drugmakers' outsourcing their production and called on the companies to make more of their products in the United States.

He added that foreign countries must pay fair share for drug development costs.

"We're going to end global freeloading," Trump said.

Trump spooked investors in the pharmaceuticals and biotech sectors by saying on Jan. 11, before his inauguration, that drug companies were "getting away with murder" on what they charged the government for medicine and that he would do something about it.

I wish he would legalize medical marijuana.

This is normally what the left would praise......but it is Trump...so expect the left wing morons to call for increasing the price of drugs......and for limiting the supply......

Once Republicans realize Trump can't bring back the 88% of jobs that were automated and the jobs that exist will be going to educated immigrants, the GOP base will need the drugs to keep from committing suicide..

It would be nice if he legalized it, but he won't. Pharmaceuticals are laughing their asses off at this, though. Trump is demanding they lower prices, while increasing cost of production. And you know he's not going to follow up on any of it. He'll declare victory tomorrow and that'll be it.

If fuck head Trump is so concerned then why is his administration attempting to make or has injectable drugs at a doctor's office step therapy? Dr's know more than the government.

Step therapy is you start with a lower cost drug that the doc says doesn't work and work your way up and by then you could be dead.

Give me a break Trump is working on this and some dem candidates are campaigning on this. Never happen.

It's both. Both Democrats and Republicans have embraced using government to intervene in the market.
