NATO. Trump is arguing that we are paying too much for the defense of Europe. Let’s talk about it for a minute. First, we can all agree that the deficit is kind of insanely high right? As for raising taxes, you realize that we could literally tax every single person and company in this nation at 100% and not pay it off right? Seriously, the Government could collect every single dollar made by everyone, and still come up short. We’re spending more than we are bringing in.

The argument that we need to raise taxes to stop this trend is potentially a good one, but let’s take this a bit smaller. You don’t get to walk to your boss and say hey, I can’t cover my expenses, so you are going to give me a raise. If you were looking at Bankruptcy, one of the first things you would have to do is go through a budget councilor who would talk to you on how to reduce your expenses. Funny how reducing expenses is never discussed when we get to Government Budgets. Are you saying that the Government can’t save any money on expenses?

While we are paying to be in Germany, defending them, training our Army and Air Force, the Germans aren’t really training anymore. The reason? They can’t afford the overtime it would take.

Josephus, a Roman General, said that training was bloodless battle, and battle was bloody training. The first step is training obviously. Well equipped is nice, some would argue vital. Well equipped and poorly trained is a recipe for disaster.

So again, why would we pay so much to keep our soldiers there ready to defend their nation, when their nation won’t even find the minimum needed to help defend themselves. We can assist, but we can’t carry. That is a truism.
