Trump: NO new wall built?

You make it sound like democrats havent fought tooth and nail to stop all construction. Why are you blaming Trump for the situation democrats created?
Is it some kind of shock to you that the other party would make things tough?

Were you okay when the GOP did that with Obama?

Maybe Trump should try some more goofy hyperbole, name-calling and personal insults. Maybe that will work.

He's the President. As partisans always say, he's responsible for what happens "on his watch". That's the way it goes.
.
Why are you defending the people who are intentionally preventing our government from fixing our immigration problems?

I'm just making the obvious, honest point. And there is more than one way to fix our immigration problems.

There is no "one way". Our border security requires many methods to combat illegal immigration, including a wall, obviously.

I'm sure this won't matter, but I do look forward to the spin. Maybe it's Obama's fault? Hillary? Comey? The Deep State? Maybe it's Fake News?

From the conservative Washington Examiner:

Trump has not built a single mile of new border fence after 30 months in office

The agency said that it had built 51 miles of steel bollard fence with funding that was set aside during fiscal 2017 and 2018. But while the funding was meant both to replace outdated walls and to place barriers where there previously had been none, the government has only completed the replacement projects. The projects to secure areas with no fence are still in the works.

The 50 miles of completed replacement barrier is a 10-mile gain since early April. In Trump’s two and a half years in office, his administration has installed an average 1.7 miles of barrier per month, and none of it in areas that did not previously have some sort of barrier. A total 205 miles of new and replacement barrier has been funded in the two and a half years since Trump took office.

Yes, this campaign promise has been a failure for this president for whatever the reason.

Now on to open discussion:
The wall is a symbol not a solution. Immigration is a critical issue that needs to be addressed but it has so many darn complexities to it.

People are getting caught up on the word "wall". I think we need to toss it aside and start discussing "border security" because that's what we need, not a wall. Border security is all encompassing - technology, physical barrier, foreign agenda/aide and domestic immigration policy. I'm sure I'm overlooking several other elements but I'm confident there are members here that can add what I'm missing.

How do we get this? Passing clean Bills.
Is it possible? No, not under the current partisanship as is clearly evident through the comments posted on this article. (chagrin)

Until we can put aside political partisanship the country is doomed.

No spin. This is a huge failure. It could be the failure that defines his presidency.

He should have moved on this day one. The American people voted for a FUCKING WALL.

For such a smart operator, this was very stupid.
The American people did not vote for a wall.

They voted for the candidate who primary promise was building a Wall.

Your quibbling is noted. Now run along.

More importantly, Trump exposed the Democrats plan for open borders. I didn't realize at the time when I voted for Trump just how far Left the Democratic party had moved. 2020 is easy. Trump stands for Americans of all races first. On the other side, Democrats hate white males and want America to become a 3rd world shIt hole. Right now the border wall is secondary to letting a bunch of white hating, Socialists take over the country.

It was obviously a campaign ploy. How often did you hear about this wall idea while he was campaigning? Every fucking day. How often have you heard him talk about it as President? Every two months? Every four months? Every six months? He has been very half-heartedly promoting it in the last 2 years.

It was not just a campaign ploy. It's a way to protect American from invaders like the ones at the border now.
