Here, there, and everywhere.
US President Donald Trump finally exited the 2015 nuclear deal with Iran on Tuesday, pledging at a special briefing at the White House that he will immediately impose the “highest level of economic sanctions” to deter the Tehran regime’s pursuit of nuclear weapons.

Trump declared, “We will not allow a regime that chants ‘Death to America’ to gain access to the most dangerous weapons on the Earth.”

Under a congressional act passed in September 2015, the US president is required to certify Iranian compliance with the JCPOA — the technical name for the nuclear deal — every 90 days. Trump had certified Iranian compliance three times during his presidency, despite slamming the JCPOA — the signature diplomatic achievement of the previous Obama Administration — as “the worst deal ever.”

Trump was no less forgiving of his predecessor on Tuesday, stating that the “disastrous deal gave this regime — a regime of great terror — many billions of dollars, some of it in actual cash.

^^ Trump was also careful to stress American support for Iran’s people, who had suffered for “nearly 40 years since this dictatorship seized power.”

“The future of Iran belongs to its people,” Trump said. “There has been enough suffering, death and destruction — let it end now.” A subsequent statement from the White House Press Secretary stressed that in addition to “never developing a nuclear weapon,” Trump expected the Iranian leadership to end “its publicly declared quest to destroy Israel” as well as its “grievous human rights abuses.”

We can only hope prayer works to save the unfortunate Iranian people. Between an absurd theocratic régime in Tehran and a hostile superpower intent on continuing to intervene (1953 wasn't enough), this wonderful country and people suffer needlessly and excessively. Nothing seems possible to save them, thus, pray is all one can do.

Trying to starve a population with sanctions is a great way to support them and win hearts and minds.
It was a definite winner in Iraq.

A better option would be to surreptitiously deliver useful consumer goods directly to the Iranian population in the name of American friendship. That would be cheaper than the weapons needed to fight them.

Sanctions only work if everyone does them.

France
Great Britain
Germany
Russia
China
and the rest of the world refuses.

The US with it's one man wrecking crew. What a joke. A laughingstock. Even worse than Bush.

...well, worse than Bush? We don't need to exaggerate.

How would that prevent the regime from making nuclear weapons or get it to end its support for terrorism or end its imperialist adventures? There is simply no way to force Iran to capitulate on these issues without hurting the Iranian people just as there was not way to stop the nazis or Japanese without hurting the German and Japanese people.

They do get their useful consumer goods, ranging from refrigerators to cars, by means of a highly active and lucrative smuggling activity between Oman and Iran. By boat, across the Strait of Hormuz.

How would you know that they've capitulated and given up on nuclear weapons?

There are only two ways. Either Iran would agree to outsource its fuel cycle so that they would no longer enrich uranium or process spent fuel rods or Iran would agree to highly intrusive anytime anywhere inspections. Most countries that use nuclear energy outsource their fuel cycle and all but two countries that enrich their own nuclear fuel have nuclear weapons, and until Obama trashed in in his failed negotiations with Iran, outsourcing the fuel cycle was the demand of the US and was the centerpiece of non proliferation efforts worldwide.

Russia and the rest of Europe will fill the void of the American sanctions.

Another blow against American business.
