Trump Calls Truce in China Trade War a Big Success, but Little Is Known About the Deal

President Trump cast his Saturday meeting with President Xi Jinping of China as a huge win for the United States, insisting that American farmers and automakers would reap immediate benefits from a trade truce that has yet to produce any concrete commitments and created more questions than answers about what China is truly prepared to offer.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Trump agreed to a 90 day truce in his trade war with China.

I don't get it; Why in Hell would the very person that said, "Trade wars are good and easy to win" BLINK, and agree to a 90 truce?

Xi called Trump's bluff, just like Kim un in North Korea did.

Trump is now officially a pussy.

Don't most people WANT the trade war to be over?

"Blinking" is your spin...Even the story you cite admits that they have few details....Not even the NYT can descend to your level of hackery.

Hackery? LOL, Trump is getting grabbed by his pussy (again) just like Kim un did to him.

Lets wait and see how this plays out -- this may be a huge win for Trump....

Its not like Trump is the one who started this trade war, oh wait...

Make a fair playing field. That's what his objective is.

Trump knows exactly what he's doing.

Another dumbass OP by a commie who couldn't run a lemonade stand. Trump got the tariffs removed from US auto exports, got a YUGE uptick in agricultural products sales, and simply gave Xi enough time to instruct his domestic buyers to do business with us. All the Chinese got was 3 months before our tariffs on them went from 10% to 25%.

well, the stock market wet dream of 24 hours ago just took a YUGE dump

Dow sinks nearly 600 points as U.S.-China trade, falling 10-year yield spook investors

U.S. stocks accelerated losses Tuesday afternoon as skepticism over the significance of an agreement reached by the U.S. and China to postpone new tariffs mounted
and as the market digested a flattening yield curve in U.S. government debt.

Skepticism surrounding the U.S. and China’s ability to achieve a concrete deal to avoid new, or expanded, bilateral tariffs is rising, as investors focused on the lack of specific concessions made by China at last weekend’s G-20 meeting in Argentina where President Trump and Chinese leader Xi Jinping met.

While the U.S. agreed to a 90-day moratorium on threats to raise tariffs on more than $200 billion in imports to 25% from 10%, a comparison of official statements from Chinese and U.S. officials suggests there may be a long way to go before the two camps are able to come to an agreement that can ease tensions more permanently.

How far did the market fall when Trump was elected??

Pretty damned far as I recall but then, guess what, it came back up big time.

The market goes up. The market goes down.

That's the market and how it works.

Suck it up. Next week it will be up again.

Your joy about a skittish stock market aside, the market went up yesterday and down so far today.....that's how it works with investors shorting, trying to anticipate how much China is lying about their intentions. Trump also got them to outlaw Fentanyl smuggling into the US...since it's killing 70,000 Americans a year....we lost 58,000 in over 15 years in Vietnam to give you an idea. But by all means keep trashing Trump...you think the rest of the world doesn't see it as waiting him out and going back to cheating us?

Its not like Trump is the one who started this trade war, oh wait...
China started it years ago with their currency manipulation, copyright theft, and dumping.
Isnt it weird that you even need to remind people of such obvious facts? There are some real dummies at USMB.
