Trump backs out of meeting with NY Times

Control and or regulation of media is a characteristic and element of all fascist governments (#6 Britt list of fascist characteristics). Trump is forming a fascist regime, hence control of the media is a primary focus at this early stage of the development of the fascist state in America.
Agreed, but how is he CONTROLLING the media?
He's not
He's just not bending over backwards for the media

Since Dems need other people to interpret other people's statements for them they are dependent on media

The media needs to report what is happening, not what they want people to believe is happening. I don't know if Trump's reading them the riot act is going to do any good but it's a start.
The "media" includes both objective straight forward journalism as well as "fly by the seat" subjective commentary. It is the responsibility of the consumer to navigate through the sources.
Isn't it also the responsibility of sources presenting themselves as straight forward journalists to actually behave as such? That appears to be the core issue of the meeting, doesn't it?
Free speech allows the journalist to offer opinion and "spin" at their leisure. Is the glass half full or half empty? Consumers decide which media sources are reputable or not, worthy of respect or not. People will tend to support or pay attention to reliable sources rather than fringe sources, although in the new age of mass media on the net, consumer skills are not currently very positive.

It is clear that much of the MSM colluded with the DNC and the Clinton campaign. They actively worked to undermine Trump. Wikileaks exposed them for their dishonesty and bias. I do not blame Trump for calling them out. However if he uses the power of his office to control or silence the scumbags in the MSM, then we have a problem...as Obama did with the IRS attacks on Tea Party groups.

He can't silence them

He can cut them completely out of the loop which is what he should do

Like I said he doesn't have to control them he can simply ignore them and take his case directly to the people.
Via Twitter? Or a state by state tour to spread his word? The media covers press conferences and publishes the transcripts of the President's speeches and pronouncements. Without them, NO ONE will know what in hell is going on.

Perhaps then a well worded complaint to the "the media" would be in order from you?

Sure. Free speech allows outright untruths as well as spin. Surely we can agree that some integrity is in order. When a media source promises to be objective they are expected to offer objective reporting and save the spin for the Op Eds. When they don't, they ought to be called out on it.

gee you never heard of YouTube?

All he has to do is post updates for the people to view online the media can then watch the posts and report on them
He does not have to cater to the media at all

The times they are a changing, old lady. Try to keep up.

It is refreshing to see so many folks realize the MSM=propaganda and it an unnecessary and pernicious middleman in the information age. If the media swamp was drained and honest journalists were hired in their place, that would at least give TV a little credibility. But the profound nature of The Donald winning the election cannot overstated. He beat the most corrupt politician in world history, the most corrupt "news" channels, the most biased entertainment shows, the dumbed down academics brainwashing students to vote democrat, the whole establishment was against him and he won.
