Trump administration feels it's "ridiculous" for United Nations to study poverty in America

Haley is full of shit, just like her master. Poverty exists to a significant degree in the U.S. Why not analyze it? Is there something to be afraid of?

Why would we have to have food pantries, why would we have people living in run-down and unsafe housing, why would America's school children have to rely on food provided at their schools, why do Americans have no access to health care, why do we have widespread opioid addiction, if this is such a heavenly place? Poverty is all over this country, in the cities and in the rural areas. Why run from it or try to conceal it?
Those are GOP goals. Most of those food pantries and people living in run down and unsafe housing are Trump voters. Because for them, it's about race. Even if you have no running water, no electricity and you get your heat from cutting down trees and you aren't even sure if you will eat tomorrow, the most scary thing there is, is a black person you don't know, don't talk to and have no contact with.
Trump plays that song even better than the rest of the GOP leadership.

Blacks will kill you.
Hispanics will take your jobs.
Gays will molest your children.

We are going to give you free shit that others pay for. How the left keeps their base.

Nikki Haley: 'Ridiculous' for UN to analyze poverty in America

“At the end of the day, however, particularly in a rich country like the United States, the persistence of extreme poverty is a political choice made by those in power,” the report reads. “With political will, it could readily be eliminated.”

The report said American democracy "is being steadily undermined" and provided several suggestions for how to alleviate poverty in the U.S. The recommendations said American citizens must realize taxes "are in their interest" and that the U.S. "must recognize a right to health care."

Under Trump, the income gap is growing faster than ever before. Which was the Republicans goal when they elected Trump.

Take the 8 Billion dollars we give to the UN every year and feed the poor. Problem solved. We could also turn the UN complex into a homeless shelter.

Why not end the tax exemption for churches and use the proceeds on efforts to end poverty?

Poverty??? Hahahaha!!!
Supposedly poverty is anything below For example, the poverty level for a household of four is an annual income of $24,600.
Are You Eligible for Federal Benefits in 2018?

Let's see my Dad raised us 4 kids my mom was not employed. We mowed lawns. Shoveled snow. worked in 5 neighbors gardens and we had a paper route.
My Dad grossed $500/month and this was in 1950s.
Now we didn't have free cell phones. Section 8 rent free. SNAP. SS and the like and we would have been considered living in poverty.
BUT we never considered that! We had food, shelter, clothes and we all graduated from high school and college.

Hmmmm... Poverty!!

Oh and by the way Next time you pass 10 people ... ONE of them maybe a millionaire!
The U.S. now has a record of more than 11 million millionaire households... net worth Assets less debts... over $1 million...
11 million divided into 115 million households works out to 1 out of 10!
Maybe you are walking in the wrong crowd!

The USA created 500,000 millionaires each year. But they’re not being created by hard work. 75% of the wealthy admit they inherited substantial funds which helped them get even richer. Millionaires are being created by transferring wealth from the working and middle class to the top. Robbing from the poor to give to the rich.

And while you’re thinking that all those millionaires means your nation is doing well. Unfortunately 75% of Americans are now struggling financially precisely because of that transfer of wealth. And their numbers are growing under Trump.

In real terms year 4 million babies are born in the US each year. 3 million of those babies will be poor and struggling all their lives. You think this is wonderful because you think you’re going to be one of the lucky ones who makes it. The odds are not in your favour. Not unless you were born rich.

Take the 8 Billion dollars we give to the UN every year and feed the poor. Problem solved. We could also turn the UN complex into a homeless shelter.

Why not end the tax exemption for churches and use the proceeds on efforts to end poverty?

How does one end poverty with taking money from churches? Do you know what churches do with some of their money?

It's very simple. What is poverty? Poverty is the situation of not having any (or little) money.

What is the solution to poverty? More money.

How does one obtain more money? Get a job, maybe two. Don't have children until you are in a secure relationship with two parents and a solid income. Don't spend money on things you don't absolutely have to have.

Poverty now solved.

But to answer your question, read this article. Public money doesn't equate the elimination of poverty.

The War on Poverty: 50 years of failure

Wow, 40 million Americans live in poverty.

..but how can that be after more than 5 decades, trillions of dollars spent and the creation of gigantic federal welfare state in support of the "war on poverty"?

Apparently the expansion of state power isn't the magic fairy dust solution to all problems that the progressive gub'mint worshipers think it is, huh?

"The picture of the free market is necessarily one of harmony and mutual benefit; the picture of State intervention is one of caste conflict, coercion, and exploitation." -- Murray N. Rothbard

The “War on Poverty” ended when Reagan was elected and declared war on the poor, cutting benefits and blaming the poor for their lot.

The US is the richest country in the world and yet the middle class is shrinking because the US tax code transfers wealth from the working and middle class to the wealthy. The income gap between rich and poor is increasing not closing.

The UN is right. Keeping 40 million in poverty is a choice the government makes with its labour policies, health care policies and tax code.

They are right and wrong. The government is who promoted poverty; particularly on the left. They promoted single parent families. They promoted the expansion of social programs. They tried to eliminate school choice for kids with aptitudes that were stuck in public schools.

Now please (once again) explain the dynamics on how our tax code takes money from the poor and gives it to the wealthy. I'm dying to read it.

I partially agree with the UN's conclusion about politics being at fault for US poverty but the money should have been better spent actually helping people rather than on some egghead study. UN study, what the heck. They should have just gone to the local library...

51ztQGdMO0L._SX326_BO1,204,203,200_.jpg

That's what the U.N. does--study a situation so it can make a rational suggestion to make things better.

Who asked them? Can't they mind their own business? They don't do anything for anybody anyway except criticize the US constantly.

Of course these idiots think it's ridiculous.
  • They think clean air & water is ridiculous.
  • They think everyone being able to access affordable healthcare is ridiculous.
  • They think global warming is ridiculous
  • They think any form of sensible gun control is ridiculous
  • They think education is ridiculous
Ridiculous people believe ridiculous things.

You are correct to a point. Some people believe that rewarding failure and penalizing success is the secret to a good society. Some people believe if you make a law against gun ownership, the criminals will be happy to turn theirs in. Some people believe that if you force restaurants to put calorie count on all their menus, it will make fat people skinny.

Even if you have no running water, no electricity and you get your heat from cutting down trees and you aren't even sure if you will eat tomorrow.

What are you personally doing to address those "problems"?

Talk is cheap and partisan bitching, moaning and finger pointing is even cheaper.

So if you are in poverty, who's fault is that? Who made that choice for you?

Hey jackass why don’t you start with Chicago? Don’t worry about Appalachia.

Chicago has a long history of public corruption that regularly draws the attention of federal law enforcement and federal prosecutors. Chicago's political landscape has been firmly under the control of the Democratic Party for over 50 years and has been widely described as a political machine.

Chicago's homicide rate had surpassed that of Los Angeles by 2010 (16.02 per 100,000), and was more than twice that of New York City (7.0 per 100,000) in the same year. By the end of 2015, Chicago's homicide rate would rise to 18.6 per 100,000. By 2016, Chicago had recorded more homicides and shooting victims than New York City and Los Angeles combined.

Sorry but when it comes to murder vs drug abuse, I'd say the former is a much bigger problem for society than the latter.
