I have long maintained that there is no such thing as a single corrupt cop. If there is one, and we can pretty much guarantee that there is one, there are many.
Those others may be doing nothing but looking the other way. But choosing to do nothing is a choice. Inaction is action.
In Troy New York the elite Firearms Interdiction Drug Suppression unit was suspended with pay. They are suspected of filing false reports to cover up illegal searches. This apparently all came to light when the team filed a false burglary report to cover up an illegal entry search.
Troy drug unit under investigation for allegedly covering up warrantless search
The political side is playing out pretty much as you would expect. The Mayor, a Democrat while announcing that an entire police unit was apparently corrupt and the internal investigation was ongoing praised the police as dedicated and honest. The usual pap that is always stated.
The Chairman of the City Council, a Republican denounced the mayor, and the decision to remove these cops from the front line on the war against drugs.
Of course any pending cases that the cops are involved in are just about guaranteed to be dropped. No Jury is going to believe that the cops were caught lying in one case, but this time they are telling the truth.
A completely predictable story. But despite the fact that these completely predictable stories come out every single day we are told that they almost never happen.
