Just wondering what that says for their history of job performance.

Well, before Clinton we had Carter...

LBJ, who chose not to run.

and JFK, who couldn't run.

and Truman, who was prevented from running for a "second term".

Truman wasn't prevented from running for another term. The 22nd amendment was ratified during his term and did not apply to him.
 
Okay, well, if one wishes to do a comparison between the two parties, here you go.

Since the creation of the Democrat Party, there have been 14 Democrat Presidents, if you count Andrew Johnson, who was technically elected as part of the National Union Party. Seven of them were elected to a second term.

Since the creation of the Republican Party, there have been 18 Republican Presidents. Nine of them were elected to a second term.

Draw your own conclusions as to which party's Presidents have garnered more approval with the voters concerning policies while in office.
