Top Dems: Obama Won't Get Health Care Bill in 2009
Senior Congressional Democrats told ABC News today it is highly unlikely that a health care reform bill will be completed this year, just a week after President Barack Obama declared he was "absolutely confident" he'll be able to sign one by then.
President Obama's holding the line at an even division in public views on health care reform, boosted by support for two key elements -- a personal mandate and a public option -- and aided by continued weakness in the opposition party.
"Getting this done by the by the end of the year is a no-go," a senior Democratic leadership aide told ABC News. Two other key Congressional Democrats also told ABC News the same thing.
This may come as an unwelcome surprise for the White House, where officials from the president on down have repeatedly said the health care bill would be signed into law by the end of the year.
"I am absolutely confident that we are going to get health care done by the end of this year, and Nancy Pelosi is just as confident," Obama said Oct. 27 at a fundraiser for the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee

RUSH: I want you to listen to Dingy Harry in Washington yesterday on Capitol Hill, had a press conference. Reporter said, "You think you can pass health care reform this year?"
REID: First of all, we're not going to be bound by any timelines. We need to do the best job we can for the American people. We want quality legislation and we're going to do that. We're going to do this legislation as expeditiously as we can, but we're going to do it as fairly as we can also.

Lieberman Denies Report of Secret Deal With Reid on Health Care Bill
A spokesman for Sen. Joe Lieberman refuted a report Tuesday that the Connecticut senator struck a secret deal with Majority Leader Harry Reid in which he promised not to block a final vote on health care reform.

Doesn't look like Pelosi is gonna get what she wants...and looks even WORSE for Obama who insisted it would be done before the Congress went on break in August.
Looks like the power of 'NO' Resonates with the congress eh? They're STUMBLING all over themselves. And Obama was quoted as saying if this isn't done this year it WON'T be done...
Let us HOPE (real HOPE) this is the case. Keep up the pressure. It's about time that these people LEARNED the power of NO...especially with 2010 looming large, and the elections last night.
