This seems a clear violation of the equal protection clause. Does anyone doubt it?
What doya want Edward? A socialist revolution?
That is what happens when wealth distribution gets too lopsided.
Idealy would it happen? No. Then again, ideally humans would be motivated to work for the greater good in a socialist state but we know that does not happen.
So we pick a middle ground.
with 1% paying 40%
of taxes I'm not surprised they want a revolution or at least a court settlement.
What do the one percent want? More of the wealth of the nation?
They certainly don't want the rest of America to get tired of making up 99% of the Armed forces.
equal protection under the law, not paying 40% of the their money to losers and moochers
did someone say they did want that?? Do you have any idea what point you are trying to make?
I may not be top 1%.. but I am ~top5%... and what I want.. equal treatment by government under law... I don't want a cheaper rate than person X, but I also don't want a higher rate than person Y, and I certainly don't want person Z paying zero on federal income tax while earning an income
And funny.. I did serve in the Army
but why want the same percent rather than the same dollar amount. When you walk into a super market you pay the same amount as a poor person. Why should you pay a higher amount for a fighter plane than a poor person.
Liberals have become ungrateful leeches, make them pay their fair share and we'll see how they feel then about the incredible good fortune they have in this country.
The libturds act as if they have no wealth, as if that fighter plane only protects the rich!! Let them live in the Congo and see their families slaughtered by invaders and then say they have no wealth here, let them live without state of the art medical care and say they have no wealth. Let them live without free education and Socail Security and say they have no wealth.
See why we are positive they are slow.
Much like a sales tax, it is the same amount on every dollar.. in the case of income tax, it is dollar earned, and in sales tax it is dollar spent... it is indeed equal treatment.. blind to pandering and subjective bullshit
Edward, step back for a moment and look at the larger picture. What has happened places where wealth distribution got too off kilter?
The 99% strike back and sometimes over-react and you end up with a socialist country.
So Conservatively I like to be careful with this country that has treated me very well.
Well thanks for your service. Dave, I understand the sentiment. Everyone needs to pay something in taxes. At least that sales tax you mentioned in another post takes more or less 7% from folks depending on what they buy and how.
I shudder to think if I'm in the top 5%. I remember the first day I realized I was an "above average" household all by myself.
Darn it, I am going to have to go look.
