but why want the same percent rather than the same dollar amount. When you walk into a super market you pay the same amount as a poor person. Why should you pay a higher amount for a fighter plane than a poor person.

Well thanks for your service. Dave, I understand the sentiment. Everyone needs to pay something in taxes. At least that sales tax you mentioned in another post takes more or less 7% from folks depending on what they buy and how.

I shudder to think if I'm in the top 5%. I remember the first day I realized I was an "above average" household all by myself.
