Roll Call reports the view among rural Democratic strategists that Democrats were shellacked in rural America because the Democratic Party didn't pay enough attention to rural areas. If the party had spent more money on, say, rural Democratic strategists, they claim, Clinton would have won (Rural Democrats: Party Ignored Us, Suffered the Consequences).

The writer, Alex Roarty, thinks that makes sense and betrays why he misses the real reason with this throw-away line: "These nonwhite voters might have cost Clinton the most: She performed poorly in rural counties populated mostly by Hispanic voters, too, as The Washington Post’s political science blog Monkey Page tabulated in a recent post. That weak showing likely accounts for why Clinton did worse than Obama with Latino voters, according to exit polls, despite Trump’s racist rhetoric about Latino immigrants."

Racist rhetoric, Alex, you brain-dead slug? While squealing racist at someone may still inflame the snowflake sophisticates, Americans are over it.
